One of my all time favs. I love this series.

Y'all know about this right? I haven't read the whole thread so I"m not sure if someone brought it up already.

"We're proud to be reuniting with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg to complete the story of the American combat experience of World War II," HBO Films president Colin Callender says. "This epic miniseries is based on the true stories of three Marines whose experiences in the Pacific embodied the unique nature of that theater of war, and dramatize how it profoundly differed from the European front."

Yes, already mentioned. There was a thread about it several months ago as well. REALLY looking forward to it.

HBO has hit home runs with Band of Brothers, Generation Kill and John Adams. I can't wait to see this mini series.

Finally finished watching it last night.

Great series.

I do think it's slightly overrated, in that all I hear is that it's the best thing ever. And that was even discussed earlier in the thread. I think the more I think about it, and maybe if I watch it again (which I'm sure I will at some point), it'll get better. But overall, it was a great, great series though.

I watched episodes 9 and 10 last night. I think my favorites were the Doc episode, and I really liked 9 (I think), where they raid the German "Nazi" city at the end of the war. That was cool. And the Eagle's Nest was incredible.

Some of the scenery in the last 2 episodes was amazing. Makes me want to go to Austria.

Easy Company,

He IS my hero..... Easy company rocks....

There's another one - a speech by a german officer to his men, that is also surprisingly moving.

Great part in the book also... It goes to show the appreciation he had for other "Bands of Brothers" get the chills here typing it.....

and for the record Sgt. Carwood Lipton was my favorite character besides of course Winters...

Read the book first.. then sat with it in hand while i watched it.... When it was time for BOB on HBO at the time, my kids would have to get to their rooms, they would say "Band of Brothers, Band of Brothers, Band of Brothers".... lol I was not to be interrupted....

I'm re-reading Winter's book "Beyond Band of Brothers" now. GREAT stuff.

Just to be clear. My previous post was an absolute joke. I thought it would be obvious from my second statement. Band of Brothers is maybe the best thing ever put on film. When I think about the new pacific series I pee in my pants a little.

I enjoyed it a lot, and it was great. But I don't think it was a better series than something like Planet Earth.

Watch it again. I rewatched this about a year after watching it the first time and I am now convinced it's the greatest show I've ever seen and I am not an army guy at all.

Sort of minute, but one of my favorite parts of the movie is "We salute the rank, not the man." Loved it.

There are so many great lines and speeches like that...one of my favorite parts is after Bastogne and taking Foy, Spears and Lipton are in the church and Spears says "you want to know about the stories" and goes on to talk about the bad arse roman legion soldier and why he never denied the rumors so guys would think he was the meanest SOB in the army. He finishes up by pumping up Lipton telling him that he was the man who held everyone together in bastogne.

Gives me goose bumps every time I see it, awesome.

and rightfully so. But FWIW David Schwimmer played an excellent part as the a-hole "Sobel", he surely did buff up for the part....

Oh and I did Love Generation Kill also.... HBO MINI SERIES ROCK...

I was impressed with Donnie Wahlberg in BoB.

And I was equally impressed with Schwimmer too. I don't really like him too much, but thought he did a great job of playing a douchey a-hole.

My 2 favorite parts are:

1)The beginning of the Bastogne episode where the real guy at the beginning in one of his interviews says "Even now, when me and my wife go to bed on a cold winter night, I always say - at least it's not Bastogne". Goosebumps

2)When they leave Bastogne to cross that field and take the town and shite breaks down so they send Spears out there - on a fricking dime he puts his helmet on and then just charges out there.

I watched the first episone last night. And at the end Winters is looking out the plane and he is looking at hundreds of boats and planes heading to europe. I thought to myself, that must have been some awsome view. What would go through someones mind viewing that.
