Steve Martin - LINK
Andy Griffith - What it was was Football
Bill Cosby - Chocolate Cake for Breakfast
Three of my favorite old stand up guys. All are well known. I think Steve Martin has been dangerously underrated with how nuclear hot he was in the 70’s. He opened rock shows constantly with comedy, did solo stand up tours and sold millions of records BEFORE starting in a movie. Then he just decided to quit standup.

My favorite:
Louis C.K. - Hilarious
Patrice O’Neal - Elephant in the Room
Louis C.K. - Oh My God
Louis C.K. - Live at Carnegie Hall
Dave Chappelle - Killin Them Softly
Dave Chappelle - Sticks & Stones
Brian Regan - Brian Regan Live
Nick Swardson - Party
I got into comedy in the early 2000s.
Edit: Shocked that I’m the first person to mention Louis C.K. Also kind of sad that Patrice O’Neal only got 1 other mention as well. He was a giant mind who every major comic thought was already an all time great before he died. A true comic’s comic.
Every person who considers themselves a fan of comedy needs to watch his documentary.

Some that haven’t been mentioned yet
Dana Carvey: Critics Choice
Gary Gulman’s early specials were great, and also clean. The last special I know of focused on him being diagnosed with depression, but it had comedic elements to it.
Sebastian Maniscalco is also hilarious. He has a new one out on Hulu, and several older specials on Netflix.

George Carlin had a few HBO specials, find those and you’ll never look at life the same
They were nothing short of genius and pure comedy
