Because Walt is too obvious as the show's lead. In fact, Cranston is such a good actor, he's actually making Walt seem ordinary, normal, regular - which I guess is the point of drawing us into his world (which, is also what happened with Vic Mackey in The Shield) - but it's very effective in making me see things from Walt's perspective.

Walter is not the type to touch meth.
But the whole thing will be a dream you will see him waking up seeing the "I fricked Ted" scene. At least this is better than a Sopranos ending.
