Previously funny people become unfunny when they move into mainstream comedy. It's just how it is.
I rematched some old Fallon SNL skits and he was unique in the fact that he was never funny.

I find it hilarious how many people hate him on this board because he laughed in SNL sketches.
The hatred just carried over to his new show now.
Do you watch his skits now? Case in point: The Saved by the Bell skit. Great idea, but Fallon-esue execution. Not only does he shove himself into the skit, instead of letting the Bayside people be their own people, but he laughs through the entire thing like a 5-year old girl.
And I don't hate him BECAUSE he laughs in the middle of skits, that's just a symptom of a bigger problem. He's like the Drake of comedy. A fanboy of everyone that thinks he's cool when he isn't.
His execution is arrogant self-centeredness masked by nostalgia and fandom. He's the ultimate "I'm cool because I like THIS PERSON!" or "People should like me because I'm super excited about this thing!"

Fallon is like if ed McMahon was the actual host. Lots of Hardee Har hars on cue.

Can Jimmy Fallon do anything funny not related to music sketches?
Those aren't funny either though. He's just not funny, period.

Not related to Fallon , but this thread reminded me of when i used to watch The Daily show and Colbert Report back to back every weeknight. Didn't agree with their political views, but i was rare when at least one of the 2 didn't get a few laughs out of me.
Never really liked the traditional late night talk show format, so those 2 were the only ones i watched. Daily Show has gone to shite with Noah, Colbert's show is unbearable even by late night talk show standards, and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is a punchline. Now i got nothing. It really is impressive how badly Comedy Central dropped the ball when you compare what they could of had if they had made keeping John Oliver a priority (Even though i have been severely disappointed with the quality of "Last week Tonight" as of late) to what they ended up with.

I don't dislike Fallon but his show is rooted in trying to make the next viral video. I feel like all I ever see about him is "Jimmy Fallon has epic lip sync battle with Celebrity XYZ."

This. He gets mega stars on his show and then talks over them, laughs over them, and inserts himself awkwardly to take over the sketch. The lip sync battle with Tom Cruise was brutal.
LINK
Cruise was being Cruise and Fallon couldn't stand it. He kept laughing like a school girl whenever Cruise sang, making sure he was still in the camera shot. Then the finale was a duet with both of them singing You've lost that Loving Feeling, and Fallon kept singing over Cruise and making stupid faces. I'm sure the girl in the audience would have much rather had Cruise "sing" to her than Fallon having seizures right in her lap.
