Everyone wondered how Criss angel did his shite too until it was discovered that almost everything he did on his show was either camera aided or the audience was in on the trick.
Look Criss is flying over a building and the audience is totally amazed. Except everyone of them can see the huge crane that's hoisting him up.

Yeah, there's definitely some plants in the crowd when Blaine does his tricks. But his slight of hand and power of persuasuion is pretty cool. Plus he trains his body to do certain tricks that make me like him more than just a regular magician.
That think with swallowing water and kerosine is pretty freaking crazy. It's not just an illusion.

One of the crew places the fruit with the card in the bowl. Blaine uses power of suggestion to get Ford to think of the card that's in the fruit.
Blaine's slight of hand stuff is amazing though. That trick he did with George Bush was awesome.
IDK how he does this shite but you cant just make someone pick the number you already picked out and then make them pick the exact fruit that has it in it. There were a few apples\oranges\lemons whatever that Harrison could have picked. The people have to be on it or my mind just got blown.

Sure you can. Blaine talks to them more than just that shot that's shown on TV. He uses certain words or phrases to influence what number and suit they will pick.

I loved how in the ghetto everyone had the same reaction to every one of his tricks - they just run away.

Either it's Hollywood-staged with actors putting on an elaborate show, or he made a deal with the devil.

He's just really good at sleight of hand and up-close magic..but he's not doing much different than any mainstream magician can do; he just is better at the presentation. Also, his dimeanor helps as well, as he sort of plays things uber straight.
Also, I haven't watched the special yet (hope to find it online or they re-air it) for things like the fruit basket, most likely all of the fruit had the card in them. There are lots (and lots) of special decks you can buy where you can basically make the person select the card you want them to. Add that to his power of persuasion, and that trick will work more often than not. Also keep in mind that this was all edited together into a TV show...I guarantee you there were times when those tricks (or the mindgames) didn't work.
But all in all, I like watching DB more than most other magicians...at least when he's doing actual magic (as opposed to his stupid arse "stunts").

That's been a knock on Blaine for a while. He misses more than he hits but the TV audience obviously never see the misses.
Still, I prefer his kind of magic to the fraudulent Criss Angel. Don't show me a spellbound and amazed audience when they're all part of the trick.

I won't defend Criss Angel, but ALL TV magic specials fall under that same category. That's one reason why I like Penn and Teller so much, because they at least acknowledge the absurdity of it all and they entertain you with magic all while having fun with it.
