And how does that compare to sports events? How does that compare to say mini golf? Bowling? Top golf? Stand up comedy/improv?

A lot of people don’t attend as many sporting events either due to games being on TV and home theaters being so nice. And due to the general public being so damn disgusting to be around. But you also can’t fairly compare the two bc sports events are different in person. A movie is going to be the same regardless if you watch it at home or not. Only a very tiny few movies demand a theater experience and even then, many home theaters are just as nice.

Top golf and bowling cannot be done at home.

Point is, Movies are expensive and easily enjoyed at home. Other expensive activities aren’t so easily enjoyed at home.

Wokeness is poison to a mass audience at this point.

Wokeness is definitely a problem. Hard to say if it is the main problem. I really do think post-covid theater attendance would be much reduced even if the movies were good.

I can see it being the highest grossing R rated movie ever.
It's hyped and even people jaded on DisneyMarvel are excited for it.

Our boot needs to be kept on disneys throat for years but I’m not beyond rewarding truly good work by them. Saw Inside out 2 and my sisters kids loved it. This movie looks even better. Hopefully they learn the right lessons from it.

I’m just saying for a night out of entertainment, it’s relatively cheap compared to the other things I mentioned.

Unfortunately the fiscal year didn’t start in June.

This is their third theatrical release this year. The first two didn’t break even at the box office.

Funny Disneys only two hits are the ones that they had the least amount of creative control over.

Inside out is a Pixar Studios movie and was established creatively by Pete Doctor who had a great run at Pixar and If ANY of the reports are true, Reynolds had to beat Bob Iger with a stick to keep him out of the D&W process.

Over the past few days, there appear to be leaks that there will be a "wolverine vs hulk" fight in the movie.

The latest trailer has deadpool saying..to wolverine, "People have waited decades for this fight" he is refering to wolverine about to fight hulk...not talking about sabertooth.

What are you predicating your predicate on?

Early tracking suggests it could be the biggest r rated opening ever. Is it a mild flop if it doesn't break the record?

3 factors. By mild flop I mean not the huge opening predicted.

1. Streaming.
2. I don't think X-Men people are Deadpool or Avengers people (broad demos here)
3. Those X-Men wolverine fans are gettin' old hence the streaming. Also. People really liked the last Wolverine, this movie looks the opposite.

I'm sure it's gonna be fun and I will go see this, but not opening weekend.

I do confess I have not the slightest idea the inner workings of "early tracking".

Probably should have kept your thoughts to yourself then.

Even if they aren’t, and a huge chunk of them are, they are Wolverine people.

I’m gonna call for $160 mil but would not be shocked if it blew the doors off that.

There are still parents that won’t do R movies with kids. So that’s a ding.

But people want summer blockbusters again and this is it. They’ll get people going for the event.

Reynolds and Jackman have an amazing rapport and are marketing geniuses. Reynolds provides a $10mil lift just with his own social media.

Count me in for 5 tickets opening night.
