Looking forward to it when I can find a little time. When does the last episode drop?

No idea he and his best friend both died in Daytona. And Earnhardt didn't even go to his funeral.

Netflix? Which black woman is playing Earnhardt in the reenactment scenes?

Interesting that Chocolate Meyers came out said how Dale could dish it out but couldn't take it and then they showed Dale getting wrecked by Ricky Rudd at Wilkesboro and wanting RR suspended for the rest of the year.

There wasn't much in the first two that I hadn't heard in some capacity before. The footage was great though, and man is DW old now. Dale wasn't a great dad or husband in his early years, and as they said he was racing the ghost of his dad. The saddest thing is I think he was trying to make up for that later on and his life was cut short before he could fully make amends.

Neil got some shitty stuff at the end of his life. Hoosier Tires gets into NASCAR to compete with Goodyear and makes cheap tires which fail for no reason and he gets killed. Then to add insult to injury in the wake of Dale's death and the sealing of his autopsy, several media outlets get Neil's autopsy and plaster it (including photos) all over the Internet.

As Robert Duvall said in Days of Thunder, most race car drivers don't go to hospitals or funerals because they don't want to be reminded of what can happen on the race track.

I think Dale really struggled with Neil’s death. He also struggled with Adam Petty’s death. Kyle Petty has said that for weeks after Adam died, Dale would avoid Kyle in the garage area and when they finally talked Dale told Kyle that he just didn’t know what to say to him. I think Dale thought about his own kids and what it would be like losing them now that he finally was forming a real relationship with them.

If Dale were still alive, I think he would admit that he was not a good husband or father back in the 80s and early 90s. I think he always loved his kids, but he was so focused on racing and winning that everything else came second. I think he had a mentality (like a lot of blue collar fathers once had) that as long as there was a roof over his kids’ head and food on the table, then he had done his job. He didn’t provide the affection that a kid really needs. However, in the last few years of his life, I believe he was trying to make up for that. Dale Jr. did an interview with Graham Bensinger (it’s on YouTube) in which he talked about how he did not have a close relationship with his Dad growing up. He was always provided for, but there wasn’t that affection. Dale Jr. talked about how his Dad wasn’t even at his high school graduation. That’s said, Dale Jr. also said that when Dale died in 2001, he was no longer the guy who would miss his son’s graduation. He said they had some of their best conversations about life in those last couple of years. I believe Dale was really looking forward to running DEI and working with his kids.

Dale Earnhardt was a complicated person, in my opinion. He was one of those pretty rare sports figures who are driven to win at all costs, more so than most of their competitors. It resulted in a lot of success, but also heartache for his family. Dale wasn’t always the good guy, nor was he always a good father. I believe he tried to make up for that later in his life, but then his life was cut short.

Except it was Dale's fault anyway. Rudd had the inside and Dale came down with a late block and took them both out.

It would be neat to know how long Dale would’ve raced until he decided to retire. Also, Dale’s comments about the chase for the cup, the playoffs, and quality of drivers from about 2012 on would’ve been gold. He’ll forever be missed.

I watched the first two episodes yesterday.

It's really good.

Junior is producing this, so it's going to be well-done. Everything he touches turns to gold.

I knew about Dale and Neil Bonnett's friendship, but I never realized how close they were till I watched this

I think he would have hung it up no later than 2005. In all honesty he was primed for another run at the Cup in 2001. If he has won #8 he possibly would have retired when they crossed the stripe in Atlanta that November.

DEI was rising. Mikey wins the 500, Jr. had shown he could get it done in 2000, Steve Park was capable of taking the checkers a time or two each season.

He would have the championship record to himself and let the young guys be the face at DEI and have Harvick be the new wonder kid with RCR. He'd split time between coaching Harvick and running DEI, hunt and fish with RC and DW. DW said not long after the accident that he had already planned to buy Dale one of the rocking chairs that Dale gave him as a retirement gift. I think it iwas closer than anyone would have suspected.

A recent story that came out this week is that Dale Sr is buried on property owned by Theresa. Jr and Kelly aren't allowed to visit his grave.

Teresa is a goddamn ghoul.

Junior has actually had to fly over the gravesite in his helicopter in order to see it.

frick that bitch.

I wonder how good Park would have been without the Darlington accident, he was looking to be a real title threat til his steering wheel came off and got nailed. He was never the same driver after that one and that brain injury.

In fairness, he did call Neil's widow and offered his condolences and that he couldn't bring himself to go to the funeral. She was okay with it.

Was it the best look? Of course not

Everyone deals with death differently. For Dale, he couldn't stand funerals.

Top-5 all-time driver.

3X champ(81, 82, 85), finished runner-up 3X(79, 83, 86) , and finished top-5 two other times.Narrowly missed being a 4X champ. Finished 11 points behind Petty in '79.

One of the best to ever do it.

I got use to good ole funny DW. This doc made me remember just how dominant he was a for that stretch he won his titles. He was a beast for a bit there.
