I have watched it 5 times probably. It is still my favorite series of all time and it probably will always be.
I think the timing of that helped but mostly, its just a great series to get into. Especially if you dont try to analyze every single line of it.

Going through a rewatch right now. What I appreciate nowadays is how much of the mythos they DO foreshadow and DO pay off.
When we were all tracking this using 50 page threads per week, I think we were disappointed in the amount of open questions or things they didn't tie up. But looking back at it via binge, the show does a better job than most any other in actually demonstrating that some of this stuff was planned out ahead of time.

I just started a Fringe rewatch. It’s even better than I remember.
If you're interested, we did an official rewatch back in 2014. You can read along if you want: Here. None of the pics and gifs will be working anymore (unless you click on them), but the discussions are still there (episode discussion starts around page 11 or so FYI).
In the end, there were only about two or three of us that stuck with it. IIRC, I believe we did three episodes a week, with discussion on Mondays. It was pretty fun though, and a fantastic show.
I absolutely loved Lost. And I am in the "loved the finale" camp as well (I know it was pretty divided at the time). I think the problem that a lot of people had with the show is that they got lost (ha) in the details of the mysteries and refused to accept the given answers. Was everything answered? Of course not. And some of that was kind of annoying for sure. But there was also a ton that actually was answered, it's just that sometimes the answer was that the island was magic and that was it. And people didn't like that. I think the video someone posted on the previous page is the one I am thinking of where a lot of the answers are "because it's magic/magical." But just because you didn't like the answer doesn't mean things weren't answered.
I'd love to rewatch this with my wife, but she isn't interested. Definitely one of the best shows ever, and I've found that it's much better when you're binging it an don't have to get bogged down with overanalyzing minute details.

This. Polar bears are a great example. The bears were brought to the island by Dharma, kept in the cages, used to experiment turning the wheel, after which they were transported to "the exit" in Tunisia. After the purge, they got set free and roamed the island.
People bitch about the polar bears but it was all explained and paid off clearly by the show, sometimes years in advance.

Yup, good example. And a lot of the explanations are simple ones that people just wanted to badly to be mysterious and meaningful.
And don't get me wrong, the Lost creators definitely played into that and played it up a bit. So I don
t blame people for wanting that stuff. But at some point you have to be able to accept the answers and be (mostly) good with it. Those that weren't good with it ended up not liking the show (and finale).
Also, re-reading this thread is hilarious:
And I also forgot that in this thread I got Bojangles's name changed. Twice.

shite now I want to start a Lost thread. It'd be easy to talk about best episodes, but how about a turn the other direction and let's dissect which episode added more to the series - Expose or the one about Jack's tattoo

yea, I think more people these days try to over dissect tv series. You have to remember that the main reason for the show is to entertain you. I was certainly entertained by LOST. I know there are things that didnt get explained but on the other hand, there were so many twists that were explained, you just honestly cant get them all

Kate and Claire end up raising Aaron together.
I honestly don’t see a happy ending to either Kate or Claire. Kate would have no where left to run since right after the President she’d probably be the most recognizable face on Earth. Everyone on Earth would be gunning for her when she’s seemingly responsible for like 500 missing people. Hurley buying all those tickets would be the biggest of the red flags. And Claire is now broken and insane.

I assumed they probably all went to jail after they got back. Idk what for but something. No way they were going to adequately explain any of that mess.
Kate would be a certainty simply for violating her parole if they couldn’t prove anything else. Everyone would want the book thrown at her to the fullest possible extent. Sawyer is also a possibility. I don’t see what collateral they could have over the other 4 though.

I will never forget watching the Simpsons prior to watching the last episode of lost.

I was re-reading the finale thread. Firstly, I had forgotten that the thread was locked at 108 pages, which is awesome.
Secondly, I forgot how annoying SFP and Freauxzen were in that thread. I summed them up in a post:
Man, that finale divided people. Also loved SFP trying to drop knowledge after watching the first four seasons and then the finale. He skips a good season and a half, and then tries to tell everyone how wrong they were.
And Freauxzen was 100% riding the "the plane wreckage in the credits points to them being dead the whole time" train.
Man Lost discussion threads on here were good times.

People have. You just aren't happy with what they say, so you continue to post the EXACT same shite over and fricking over. These are your points:
- what is the island?
- redemption
- it was purgatory, they said it wasn't, now it is...OMGLOLZ!!!1
- Free Willy South Park picture
- reiterate above points 837 times
You've made the point. We get it. Let it go for frick's sake. None of the answers that you are getting are "satisfactory" to you, so you still harp on the same shite for the last 50 pages of this thread. And Freaux is doing the same thing, albeit to a lesser degree. This is Freaux's stance:
- the writing sucks
- it's overrated as a show
- OMG WHY DID THEY SHOW THE WRECKAGE??
- Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but it sucked.
- rinse, repeat above points 837 times

They even I would argue awkwardly shoe-horned that "it was all real" line from Christian Shepherd into the finale for the specific reason of telling the audience that they weren't all dead the whole time. I don't know how much more obvious it could have been.
Posted on 2/22/21 at 2:27 pm to OMLandshark
Yeah maybe not jail but I just can’t wrap my head around what would happen and how they would explain away any of it.

Here’s what I’d say are the 5 worst episodes:
1) Fire + Water (2x12)
2) Across the Sea (6x15) (Only reason this one isn’t #1 is it doesn’t damage the main characters even if it does damage to the mythology)
3) Stranger in a Strange Land (3x09)
4) Adrift (2x02)
5) He’s Our You (5x10)
And Expose isn’t a bad episode and I’d put it somewhere near the middle in the LOST episode list. Really it’s a solid Twilight Zone episode and actually pretty good filler. Plus they get one hell of a death where they’re buried alive and realize what’s going on and are powerless to stop it. And it has Billy Dee fricking Williams. People just let their hatred for Nikki and Paulo overshadow the episode and they debatably have the most brutal and horrific death in the show.

I just thought of something as well. Surely the Feds would discover that Lapidus and Miles both worked for Charles Widmore and that Miles hasn’t been seen for years. And where is Charles Widmore? Seriously, where is he? We’ve got some questions for that guy. Any loved ones? Oh he’s got a daughter cruising all over the world? We need to find her now. Also where did Miles get 10 million dollars worth of diamonds?

So I mentioned my wife and I are zooming through a rewatch. We're near the end of S4 right now.
One thing that stands out to me more binging it vs. week to week, is just how pathetic of a character John Locke is. Ben manipulates him the entire series and then kills him
. As much as Locke wants to believe he's special, he's nothing but a pawn the entire time.
Locke never really has the upper hand the entire series.
