Did the film have some lesbian undertones?

She don’t need to lose weight. They just both need to learn to sacrifice their own time for each other. Can’t come home and turn the game on every day. Or video games, etc. he needs to give her some of his time. it just takes a couple days a week and he wouldn’t have to worry about her losing her shite.

The food fighting scene in the cafe was supposed to be the stand-in for them banging.

The book had more I believe. The film downplayed it a little. 1992 was a bit more conservative by Hollywood standards.
Like someone else said, the food fight scene was the fill-in for a love scene.
