Two questions:

1.) On HK, what is Ramsay's deal with orders having to be done at the exact same second? I'm sure that even in the finest restaurants dishes sit for a minute or two or five waiting for the rest of the order to catch up.

2.) I'm assuming that the cooks on Master Chef have access to recipes. It seems that quite a few of them had never made any of the desserts, much less even heard of a trifle. I, mean seriously, when you make strawberry shortcake, do you make shortbread? Or do you buy the Sunbeam spongecakes with the little cavity in them for the strawberries? easy.

I kinda think that the MC episodes are highly edited for time. Possibly the timeclock is just for TV because, like you said, most of the chefs have never cooked those meals yet you never see a recipe.

I remember hearing last season that the contestants were given a barebones recipe for baking challenges and i found this quote from fox last season:

quote:

Fox says that Whitney was indeed using a recipe. When it comes to baking challenges -- and only baking challenges -- contestants are given a “basic blueprint” recipe they can use or choose to ignore.

I can understand that. It is so easy to frick something up baking because you didn't use enough salt or oil.

If I was the other Master Chefs, I think I would be pissed that Becky was in the top three. I swore I heard Joe say take this basket of $15 ingredients and make a dish they can sell for $40/plus in their restaurant. No wonder those chefs are successful, they can charge $40 for a half peach and cream dessert!

And in HK, can they just eliminate the whole men team? I do not think they can cook a grilled cheese without screwing it up! I like how when one of them messes up, they do their side interview with another cook and he's like "man, you can't cook steak? Unbelievable!" You know, the same thing you cooked the night before and fricked up too!

Yeah I was wondering how that girl was going to incorporate steak into her dessert dish. She must not ever cooked a steak in her life.

I think she was trying to do something diferent, and it clearly worked. She made it into the top 3.

Now, now if Christine would have made that, you would be saying she didn't follow instructions. But since sexy Becky did it, it be alright.

BTW I do agree with you about Christine getting favorable treatment.

Lol, I don't think I would have bashed Christine for that. My disdain for her is not affected by the rules.

I've been casually watching MC because my brother is always has it on when he misses an ep and I agree with most of you guys here. I'm beginning to dislike Christine just because i'm sick of hearing how she's blind and seeing her cry every time the judges like one of her dishes.

Glad to see they saved my chick Felix

And regarding Hell's Kitchen, I like how every food challenge comes down to the last dish.

wow, no comments on tonights show. Guess no one watched. I knew when they didn't pick Kimmi's steak dish over Robyn's that Robyn would lose and Gordon would bring Kimmi's up and it would be better. So predictable. Next week should be good. I don't like Kimmi, but I really don't like Robyn with her constant scowl on her stupid face.

There is not one person on the show this year I actually like and want to see win. I get a kick out of Clemenza; he looks like he'll drop dead at any minute.

Same here.

Regarding Master Chef: who the frick makes their own tortellini?

I would wager that there is not one restaurant in BR that makes their own. Probably not one in N.O. that does it either. In order to keep enough on hand, a restaurant would have to hire a dedicated tortellini maker.

Am I off base on this? Just seemed like a really stupid challenge.

Like I said earlier, all those fricking food challenges are tied going into the last dish. It really is bullshite

There is absolutely no way Patrick is a worse chef than Kimmi, Robyn, and the fat blonde. None of those women should be on the show at this point but the producers just want drama. That's what sucks about HK and The Apprentice. Trump and Ramsay aren't only the boss they are also producers. Christina, Dana, and the guy with the bandana are the front runners.

So the men have to finish cooking for the women yet they still loose and end up with the person going home. I'll admit Patrick had been sputtering out of control the last few episodes but some of those trashy girls have been bad from day one. Tiffany burns a pizza and realizes it and says oh well not my problem. No quality control whatsoever. Oh and enough with these Part 1/2 episodes.

Both shows were pretty meh this week.

RE: Joe Bastianich (bald guy on MC)

He is a total tool. bag.

He was on an episode of his mother's PBS show "Lidia's Italy" this weekend. He acted like he was doing her a favor, and had that typical "kid-rolling-his-eyes-at-mom" attitude just about any time she made a comment. Don't know why, but his attitude toward his mother really pissed me off.

I think Joe wishes he was the cook his mother is.
