Highlander: The Series... extremely underrated production

Lots of us around in the 90's loved and watched this show, which btw was never a network production (rare to see a good show from that time period not being made by a major network). Many thought it was better than the Highlander movies.
Adrian Paul did a good job as Duncan MacLeod. I thought he was more convincing as a Scot than Christopher Lambert (Connor MacLeod in the movies), and I felt like the storylines and fight choreography was also better in the series. The swordfights remain among the best I've seen on TV or movies, in large part because Paul was trained in dance and martial arts (dude looked smooth and graceful as hell with that katana).
Tons of celeb cameos and appearances; Roger Daltrey (lead singer of The Who) had an ongoing role and was surprisingly good. And of course hot women, probably the hottest would be Elizabeth Gracen (former Miss America) as Amanda.
Visually it's great, as half of it was shot in Paris, and there's lots of nice period scenes. And there's little/no need of CGI outside of the lightning from the Quickenings, so it aged well.
I'm stating for the record how underrated the series production standards were, because it always was entertaining and relatively believable...
and one day I watched a Highlander movie made-for-TV by Syfy, with a lot of the same cast. And that was straight trash
.
So if you could take the same actors as that piece of dogshit and make a good show, you've got a good crew
What's it streaming on now?

I think it’s on Tubi or Plex. It was a prime a bit ago.

I had a book for the show where members of the crew described the schedule and process of creating the period sets and costumes. It's been years since I read it but I think it was something like ten days from getting the script to start of shooting to have all of that ready. The weekly time crunch made me appreciate it even more.
I think the book was "The Complete Watcher's Guide" if you're interested in tracking it down.

I loved this show. Need to do a rewatch soon.
It looks like it’s available on Xumo or Sling, but I don’t have those. You can buy the seasons on Prime though.

It used to come on "Sci-fi Sunday" after Star Trek TNG. Awesome show...

Used to watch this and Forever Knight back-to-back. Freakin’ miss that show as well.
Great TV.

Yeah Duncan was a cool character.
you just have to block out the basic premise of the first movie.
always wanted a Highlander katana.

And she posed for Playboy FWIW. Very nice

I remember this being one of the rare shows my mom and dad could agree on watching. Always loved seeing the fights.

Really really loved this show. Wonder how it has aged? Will check it out.

Highlander episodes used to play on the USA Network in the afternoon while I was at LSU.
The first movie was great, but I loved the series. It did a much better job with the lore of the Highlander universe than any of the movies did.
There can only be one.

Wasn't it more of an early outlander type romance show?
