We don’t really know if Kayce survives, but I think he likely does based on the backstory we’ve been given. Although that could provide a good swerve. I’ll be pissed though if that’s the case.

Based on everyone being alive where we left off at the end of season 3, I really don’t know what Kayce’s role will be in the even of Johns death. I agree their relationship appears to be the best it’s been. I can see the ranch going to either Kayce or Rip & Beth.

Way to mention what show you're talking about

Pretty sure he does. Think I’ve seen pics of him on the set or something like that recently.

Easy: Governor.
Remember the older cattlemen who visited his office, to let him know they want him to run for governor?

If he wins the election he [apparently] has control over the AG (his “brother.”)
He then removes his brother from the AG’s office, thus protecting the ranch from eminent domain.

I’d be real upset if they killed him off. He’s easily the best character at the moment.

And Rip would gladly take his direction pertaining to the ranch in John’s absence? Or does Rip get the ranch outright?

You’ll partly disagree given the OP, but I’ll be pissed af if anything happens to Kayce, Rip, or Beth. I like Beth. I have from the first episode when she laid her metaphorical dick on the table and took over the company pushing back against hers.

That said, of the 3 the one I can live with the most being killed off is Beth because of the potential directions that sends both Rip and Kayce. There would be eternal hell to pay. Countless bodies would hit the floor. Then of course we could go down the rabbit hole of everyone woman Rip ever loved was taken from him and his further evolution as a character. Beths death gives the best story options of the 3 by a lot imo.

I think Rip and Kayce view each other as equals now and have a pretty deep respect for the other. They both want what’s best for the ranch and the family and I think they’re both on the same page with each other for the most part.

Apart from the John and Kayce scenes, I think the Kayce and Rip scenes are the best scenes in the show. I do want to see them team up and frick some shite up like they did when they fricked up the entire bar in season 2.

Beth might get the ranch outright according to John's will

Maybe, but Kayce continues on like he expects the ranch and to pass it on to Tate. Unless Monica fs his head up about it of course.

Rip clearly would want the ranch but wouldn’t make some huge stink over it at Johns deathbed. The letter to Rip that addressed him as a son and gave him the foreman’s house could be brought back into play as giving Rip the ranch. Prior to that after John’s surviving what he thought was cancer he said he had a lot to undo now that he wasn’t dying, maybe that was part of it.

Wouldn’t make sense with the story. Beth hates the ranch and only does what she does for her father. Obviously if Beth got it that also means Rip does as well if they’re married, so may as well just give it to Rip and it would be more likely to be preserved than if legally given to Beth.

Rip or Kayce is going to have to die, obviously. The ranch’s legacy is a Damocles that’s just hanging over the entire scenario that’s going to have to be resolved at some point in this series.

I think we’ve got at least another season after this one to solve it. Also, there’s a prequel series coming out in November of this year which should be very interesting.

wasn't there an episode already that showed Jamie was cut out of the will and Beth got everything tho? or maybe it was Beth and Kayce split it all

It’s a drama. Everybody else seems to be believable...except her.

Shootouts and explosions all over town, believable?

Crazy kidnapping and special ops guys all over the place, believable?

Yeah, drama. Enjoyable. But not believable.

She should 100000% be dead, but the writing in the show isn't good so she'll survive.

Also, RIP would be awesome if Beth was killed.

I just don’t know how she survives. That was a massive explosion indoors. But I agree.

Yeah and it was transferred to Kayce. I could have the timeline wrong, but I thought this was before the cancer scare and his saying he had a lot to undo. The letter to Rip was for sure after this.

However, we left off in season 3 with Jaime having the recognized POA in Montana. Avenue for it to be addressed there assuming John survives.
