well it looks like it's a lot closer to now than 2000 years from now, so that one won't really work.
probably some idiotic global warming bs, even though I would really hope Nolan would be better than to use junk science bs.
probably the best natural disaster would be getting scorched from a massive solar flare, then there's the old stand by, asteroid hits us.
overpopulation and massive crop failures always rings a nice clear bell. maybe he'll throw together a perfect storm combo and make it seem like fate just dealt us a big pile of crap for the hell of it, that's what I'm hoping for.
there's a nice clue in the first or second trailer... something like "you're an engineer".. "the world didn't run out of tv's, it ran out of food".
