still one of the best right now. He's like the harrison ford of our generation. Really good to great actor in a shite load of great movies.

The question you might be wondering is does he help make his movies great, or does his movies help make him great. Obviously you don't think he has much talent, but there's a lot of people in the business who think otherwise.

Is it just me or are these "is this actor really a great actor" threads getting old? I hope I'm not gonna get crucified like the guy in that other thread

I don't see how anyone could enjoy Equilibrium.

I know, different strokes and all, but i honestly thought it was a comedy. It may have made for a good novel, but as a movie is was a laughing riot.

But to stay on topic, yes he is a very good actor with insane talent. He may not be the best actor alive, but i think he's on the cusp of that list right now, kind of on the second tier. Guys like Penn, DDL, PSF, Gary Oldman, Del Toro, etc are on the top as far as both talent and acting ability go.

DDL and Penn are the shite, but I wouldn't put Dicaprio over him personally (admittedly have not seen a whole lot of his work) and IMO Depp has become a bit overrated. Has he really done anything that impressive over the last 10 years?

Looking forward to that one, should be very good. Also will be fun to see how they stack up to each other on-screen.

i've seen nearly all of those and he really didn't impress me very much. i watched the prestige last night and hugh jackman > he was in it. so was michael caine. that's the main reason i posted this

Very tough to find a movie where Michael Caine wouldn't be a better actor than his costars, IMO

His best acting job by far was Empire of the Sun.

American Psycho was amazing BC of bale. He was awesome in it. Rescue dawn proved to me that he could pull off different roles, not saying i liked the movie.

Prestige is in my top 3 now because of bale.

iono, i think hes my fav actor right now.

I might, and I'm a big fan of both actors.
