I'm not really interested in it. I want to see that odd future Rome movie instead.

That's where I figured they were going to take this one. Show how that might be possible or that he might actually have a little smarts to him as opposed to just crazy, like the first one.

They address this in the movie FYI

Just watched it. I didn't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. Yes, it's flawed with one too many songs, but there's also a lot of good stuff in it. Joaquin gives another great performance. I just wish Phillips would've cut down on the musical numbers.

As soon as it was announced as a musical I lost interest. I loved the first one and really wanted a sequel but making it a musical made me totally disinterested. Whoever approved that needs to be fired

Same. I had no idea it was a musical until this thread. That really sucks because I really liked the first one....

I liked the first Joker movie well enough (even if it was a complete ripoff of other movies). I like Joaquin Phoenix. I like Lady Gaga. It doesn't even really bother me that it's a musical.

Yet I have absolutely zero desire to see this one. Hard to even explain why really, I just don't.

I have similar feelings that I think it is bc the first film is just painful to watch, its just pure darkness and mental illness. There's enough of that in real life w/o consuming that in your 'entertainment'.

The reviews, both professional and fan, are mostly very awful.

The consensus is the musical parts feel shoehorned in and don't gel with anything plot wise, lady Gaga feels unnecessary and doesn't add anything, and the general point of the movie is to basically attack people who liked the first movie.

Probably gonna go down as one of the most bizarre big budget movies projects ever.

Some feel out of place, others are quite good. As I mentioned earlier, there's just too many musical numbers. It's a shame because there is a lot of great stuff in the movie
