With some shows like succession it's understandable, but landman is just a sit down, watch it, don't over analyze type of show.
I enjoy the show. At the same time, it's also fun pointing out the sheer outlandishness of some of it. I don't think that's being "overly picky". Same with Yellowstone. It was WAY over the top on alot of things... but still a fun watch. A show can be both.
As has been said, this ain't Shakespeare.
But then you've also do little fellas like this Hodag dude that seem to get their panties all bunched up and twisted up because someone dared say something negative about Landman.. and how dare they because well, THEY KNOW PEOPLE IN THE PATCH.

you mean the professor couldn't really do the things he did with the resources he had?
Neither Ginger nor Mary Ann got knocked up?

I wonder if Tommy and Tommy Jr. will be fighting over the same plots of land next season. Tommy will have to decide to stay loyal to weak heart or his boy.

This, and there's probably a subjective line somewhere between the two. I liken it to when "computer specialists" in tv shows and movies talk about how some hacker "is almost through the firewall", there's some sort of percentage countdown for the firewall, etc. As long as my eyes don't have to roll too hard, it's acceptable (and can even be a little amusing).

Dude, that's McGee and Abby... McGee's cracked some of the toughest encryption this side of the browser wars and Abby... well, she sleeps in a coffin, so you KNOW she knows how to hack!!!

See Scorpion. Dudes can hack a military drone on an IPad in a matter of seconds.

Charles Payne watches Landman.
"If you watch Landman you'd never invest in oil. They have an accident every day!"

Or Leverage... dude can hack ANYTHING, ANYWHERE with his phone. "Just make a frame here, wrap it with a wrapper, bingo, we're in the foreign government's super secret security system. And I fixed your traffic tickets while I was waiting."

Its like the internet has made everyone wanna become a critic of everything rather than just sit down and enjoy a tv show/movie.
My wife and I watch shows all the time about our professions which are a large part of network prime time offerings. While they may get some things right overall they are farcical depictions of reality. We have learned just to sit back and enjoy the ride or not based on whether it is entertaining because if we were looking for reality we know going in it won't be. I enjoyed most of the run of Suits but the entire premise of the show was based on something that would NEVER happen in a big city high prestige boutique firm or really any law firm. It was fiction.
Landman is fiction, way over the top and I doubt anyone even without any connection to O&G and "the patch" thinks of it otherwise. You simply can't dissect it like a great work of literature or expect a hard nosed documentary. You pay your money and you take your ride if you enjoy it come back for more when the fair comes back to town if not flip the channel.

Suits had a disbarment in almost every episode

Not up mention that if any show was 100% accurate of any industry, it would almost certainly be boring as hell.
I don't expect it to be 100% accurate.
but unless it's a parody/spoof, I also don't expect it to be wildly off either.

this. If you listened to the BoomTown Podcast which is what it is based on. A lot of what is talked about happens in the show. The other stuff is way over the top fiction which has to make the show entertaining.
Yet most tv critics in here will continue to watch and bitch and complain every second of the show and I'm sure every other Sheridan project now.

I started The Walking Dead and wasn't enjoying it so I quit watching. I could have done like most in here and bumped the threads and constantly bitched and moaned about every part I didn't enjoy and continue to watch and poke holes.
Like a normal person I quit watching it.

"You should move to a small town, somewhere the rule of law still exists. You will not survive here. You are not a wolf, and this is a land of wolves now."
vs.
"They kill coyotes around here."
Pretty much perfectly summarizes Sheridan films vs. Sheridan TV IMO

LOL at the stress that Tommy Norris under every episode.
The ex-wife and daughter is NOT fiction. You ever run across these two in real life run and don't look back.
Show is accurate. Writers did a solid job.
Chick lawyer from Houston is the most incredible part. She'd be run out of town immediately. Ain't nobody putting up with a bitch like that. She be off crying in a conference room.
Daughters babies gonna have birth defects from swimming in that plant reservoir.
Dude standing on the pipe know better.
