It was not Desmond. I have a feeling Desmond is convinced to come back by Jack. Jack leaves to bring him ala Jacob

Faraday's mom knew about the button and that Desmond was destined to push it, so its not a stretch that Widmore knew about this as well (or at least was told by her). This is why he was such a fricking prick to Desmond is because he knew he had to basically force Desmond to get away from Penny or the world would end. He may even like Desmond, but he knows what Desmond must do. Since Desmond has done that, Widmore may be much nicer to Desmond and Desmond may have helped him find the Island.

Yep. She knew that from the moment Claire mentioned her "friend" was coming....

I don't know that it will be her that gets Sawyer on board.

So Jacob touched Richard. Is this Jacob's "gift" (or curse)? Is this what made him ageless?

Yeah, no answers were really answered today, apart from Widmore coming to the Island, but it was still an amazing episode. I am content as long as they deliver episodes this good.
Well actually, Richard ended the time loop theory in one sentence. You KNOW he came with the black rock now.
They also showed, more fully, that those who follow the MIB are trapped by FATE and those who follow Jacob are redeemed.
Not exactly. Richard explained his longevity as simply a gift from Jacob which was the easiest way they could explain it. But it still doesn't rule out a time-loop associated with the 108 minute button pushing but I would not be surprised to see that dispelled as well considering how that handled the situation with Richard. And yes, Richard was probably one of the slaves on the Black Rock. We still don't know how the Black Rock got so far inland but maybe it will be explained later.
Guys, I have to tell that I got all chocked up watching this episode. Given Ben's long history of wrong doing and to redeem himself with a sheer act of kindness toward Alex in the alternate timeline was moving. I was applauding inside. But when Ben had the chance to gun-down Ilana and instead poured his guts out and then Ilana basically forgave him by accepting him back into the fold, I just lost it. And then Jack showing the ultimate courage and show of faith in the scene with Richard was inspiring. Jack is finally rising to the occasion to be the leader that everyone looked up to at the beginning of the first season. And of course we now know that Widmore is back to the island which is almost certainly bad tidings. This episode was awesome !!

So the candidates may now be ageless as well?

I don't think so, Ben is a candidate and he has aged, no?
Posted on 3/9/10 at 9:50 pm to joshnorris14
Ben isn't a candidate, right?

Dunno...maybe as long as they stay on the island? Just shooting from the hip here.

I remember Linus being written on either the dial or in the cave.
