One weekend I watched Revolutionary Road and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It took me nearly a week to find a glimmer of happiness. Damn....

Grave of the Fireflies. Schindler's List is at least a tell of moral redemption. Grave of the Fireflies is like watching someone catching puppies on fire. Just nothing good happens in it, and it's incredibly depressing.

Yes. The novel is of course bleak but beautifully written. The movie is very well if not horrifyingly shot and just leaves you in a state of existential dread

War Horse.
That movie just kept spiraling down. One depressing scene after another.

Requiem and The Road immediately come to mind.

Another movie that fits for me is Road to Perdition.

3 movies to avoid, at all costs, no matter what anyone says:

The Wrestler
Leaving Las Vegas
Boogie Nights
