Rick Moranis. Only reason why he stopped acting was because his wife died from cancer and he decided it was best to be a full time father. The man truly is an inspiration to those who believe that raising your children is the most important job anyone can have.

The character Andy Taylor was incredibly lovable. The actor? Not so much.

My wife was an extra on Matlock with him when she was in her early 20s......said he was a huge arse.
Hurt my heart to know Andy Taylor was a jerk. He was old so maybe that had something to do with it.

Candy’s real fame lasted like 5 years before he died. He was an alcoholic and cokehead. Those are usually not sweet people. I have a feeling he was just a good actor, died before we saw the real side and a conscious effort is made to protect his public legacy

Every interview of Vince Vaughn that I've seen, I've come away thinking that he seems like a really nice and thoughtful person.
Can confirm this- -interacted with him twice in New Orleans. Once was at the old Matador on Decatur and Esplanade. He was good friends with the late Rio Hackford (an acquaintance of mine; friend of a friend) who owned the bar at the time. Vaughn accidentally bumped into me and was very apologetic; he later bartended for a while that night and gave me a free beer.
Quite a few years later ran into those two (and Steve Zahn) at Jazzfest when they were buying some beers while I was working the SCS beer booth; chatted with them for minute or two. They were just walking around like regular guys.

In reality, Andy Taylor and Aunt Bea could not have been more different characters than their respective actors were in real life.. Andy Griffith and Francis Bavier we known to be incredibly difficult people to work with and very unlikable, and as a trivia note, absolutely hated each other.

My dad's cousin has been an actor since the 80's. He worked with Andy Griffin a few times and said he's a grade A a-hole.

Watch "Murder in Coweta County" with Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash on YouTube. Might give you a better idea of what Griffith was like off camera.
As for John Goodman, his demeanor may depend on what kind of day he’s having. I’ve heard both good and not so good.

Robert Duvall
Heck of a nice, down to Earth guy. Takes real interest in people. Great sense of humor

I recently re-watched this old TV movie. I remember it as a kid, and thought it was just as good in the re-watch. What I didn't know until recently was that it was based on a true story, and that the characters they both played were real. It was actually a very accurate portrayal of the story. Makes you appreciate Johnny Cash's character even more.

Robin Williams
I was living in Boulder when they started filming Mork and Mindy. My brother happened to go up by where they were filming the kite flying scene for the intro, and was held up at a road block while they were figuring things out. Robin Williams was nearby so my brother went to talk with him. He was really good about it and mostly joked around about blocking traffic. Early in his career, and he couldn't have been nicer. Pam Dawber as well.

Michael Keaton.
Also Gene Hackman always struck me as a guy you could have a beer with and listen to some great stories.

Someone mentioned Robert Duvall earlier, he has always reminded me of my dad, so I would like to hang out with him. Got to meet Matthew McConaughey years back when they filmed A Time to Kill in Canton and he seemed like a nice and down to earth guy. Sandra Bullock was very nice but almost seemed shy. Liam Neeson is in town shooting a movie right now and some friends got to meet him and said he was very courteous and charming.
