My timeline on Facebook is literally people saying they either loved it or hated it

I did find the last scene interesting. The original the girl gets in the 18 wheeler and is saved while Leatherface throws a fit swinging his chainsaw around. In this, the autopilot ev car takes the lone survivor away as Leatherface throws a fit and swings his chainsaw around.
Not that it means anything but it is hard to imagine that scenario was even plausible when the original came out.
Also, the auto pilot is driving like 5 mph. The OG leather face hauled arse after the truck.
ETA: came across a youtube mini doc about the original and the process and filming. The original actor for leather face got drunk and locked himself in a hotel room or something and they fired him right before filming and went back to the guy who tried to get the part but it was already filled. Big brute of a guy, which makes it scarier. Also, they weren't able to really wash the clothes between shoots and they got all nasty which adds to the intensity in a way, imo.

Geez, this movie was horrible.

First hour or so wasn’t that bad. Once that bus scene came, it was all down hill.

This movie was awful, but the kills were fantastic.
SPOILERS
I was also very happy that pretty much all the terrible characters got killed.

Wonder if a lot was cut out, because it seemed really short. I liked how there were scenes where he was sympathetic and acted almost normal, as when the mother died and he mourned her. He also seemed clever at times with his trickery. But it kind of ruined that when they made him indestructible. overall it was a bad movie, but loved almost every bit of it.

@SecClint [insert wheelchair character falling out of the van and down the hill gif]
at least that is how I feel about this film.

It’s a pretty good movie once you realize that leather face is the hero, going John Wick to avenge his mother’s death.

Yeah they really did make Leatherface into "the good guy" in this story.

The best part was the ending when the tesla is in autopilot and she’s screaming at leatherface. biggest piece of liberal propaganda i’ve ever seen

There were some brutal kills in this shite. Mainly the very first one where leatherface broke the cops arm in half and stuck him in the neck with it.
It was alright. This franchise has a lot of shite movies. This was actually one of the better entries I'd say.

With the exception of the Scream franchise, just about every sequel to a slasher film is shite and un-comparable to the original. Though I will argue that Friday the 13th IV: The Final Chapter and the Friday the 13th reboot from 2009 are better films than the original.

It can't possibly be worse than the one w/ Renée Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey.

I think the Friday the 13th franchise is the most consistent in quality, guilty pleasure movies. I actually think the original Friday the 13th is not thebest in the franchise, it’s maybe the 5th or 6th best.

For a Texas chainsaw massacre made in 2022 on Netflix, this is honestly all I care about. If you expect more, you’re just looking in the wrong places.

This movie sucked

I mean, some of the characters were just kinda insulting though. I would hope not for that

The only thing the original kinda sorta has on the others is the "twist" ending which doesn't work near as well now b/c it's no longer shocking for a movie to have a woman as a mass killer.

Man, this movie was bad.
Weirdly enough, I didn’t hate it. But it isn’t good at all really. Some of the kills were solid; I guess that’s really the best praise I can give it.
Just nothing in the movie made any sense at all. So this psycho killer/mass murderer just lives in the middle of town? None of the characters’ actions make any sense, ever. So many times shite could’ve been avoided had someone just said “uh, hey, there’s a murderer here and we need to get the frick out.” Like the black chick, why the hell would she see the black dude very clearly murdered and go back to the bus but not say anything? She’s just like “close the doors, we have to stay put.” Same thing when Mel goes to the bus. She witnessed more shite first hand than anybody else, yet she doesn’t say a fricking word to anyone on the bus. And everyone on the bus just basically stands there and let’s him kill them. That was just a weird arse scene. Mel under the bed for half an hour was weird too. Just scoot out while he’s beating the wall and get the frick out. Or when she’s under the floor and he’s reverse Jaws-ing the chainsaw, just slide over a foot and he can’t hit you. Same thing with the blonde in the van…you see him occupied cutting off his mom’s face, so just peace out and run. Just none of the character motivations made a single lick of sense at all.
I did especially love that he slices the old lady in two and throws her in the trash….but she’s still alive and manages to shoot him with a shotgun that has zero recoil.
And I agree with everyone that pretty much every character is completely hateable and you aren’t really mad that any of them die.
I think my favorite part though is that this insane monster killer can’t manage to kill a few small women. In reality he could snap them in half with his fingers, but it takes him forever to even subdue them and they keep getting away. And there’s zero chance that Mel in the end would know how to operate a chainsaw.
There were so many movie cliches in this one it made me laugh. Hell, even the final surprise kill made no sense and was stupid as frick. But all in all, as stupid as this movie was I’m not mad that I watched it.

The original TCM isn't even really a slasher movie and the horror wasn't related to the kills.
The original TCM has barely any gore, in fact.
