looking back on the series. all the spiderman movies have major issues to me. The first one was probably the "best". #2 had an enormous lull in it plus Aunt May's hero speech .

I agree that x-2 is one of the best comic book/ super hero movies.

Looking back it does have some dead weight- speechifying, harry osborn, el scene, but, for me, the way they did spiderman no more outweighed the lesser parts.

Although now that I think about, having peter lose his powers was oh so stupid. I might have to readjust my thoughts on this one.

The trailer makes it look like the exact story line as the original so I don't see a point at all.

And I swear it sounded like Tobey Maguire at one point narrating.

I haven't re-watched the Spiderman movies in a while but from what I can remember, the first one was just ok. Spiderman is campy, the whole Green Goblin thing was lame, Aunt May had too much screen time, come to think of it.. the only thing I really liked was the editor for the paper.(Jameson?)

The second one was once again.. ok. Doc Oc was done well, but there is nothing else I remember from it.

The third pissed me off. Venom was my most anticipated villian for Spidey and it was awful. The dude from that 70's show had no right to take that part.

I'm fine with a re-boot. I'm fine with hearing "with great power, comes great responsibility" again... just give me a good Lizard Vs. Spiderman movie.

I don't get this. They totally had Dr. Reptile lined up to play in a fourth installment. WTF?

I think they crapped the bed so bad with the 3rd that the franchise lost credibility.

Is there any talk of who the villian is in this new re-boot?

I think it is one of the goblins. Wasn't there two? Seems like I remember that from the trailer.

I keep waiting for Kingpin (?). The really fat mob boss dude from the cartoons.

yeah, there is Green Goblin and Hobgoblin.

Kingpin unfortunatley already made an appearance in the blockbuster, record breaking, movie Daredevil.

The problem is that Nolan did such a good job on bringing the "reality" to comic movies that now we all want realistic reasons as to why a villian is who he is.

Kid getting awesome cuz he was bit by a radioactive spider.. maybe. Doctor using the rehabilitating powers of a lizard to grow his arm back and in return becomes one..... eh.

I wonder if it was the crappy Venom (Sandman would have been fine on his own), Peter Parker strutting down the sidewalk to "Stayin' Alive", or that once again, the finale was Spidey having to save MJ from certain death.

I swear the whole time I was watching 3, I was thinking "Surely they will end it differently this time". Nope.

good point. It seems that Spidey's bad guys take it to a personal level every time. You would think, if they just move to another town they wouldn't have to worry about him and take over the city... or create a lab, or be the #1 photographer, or get money for his daughter.

I don't dislike it, I just don't jizz myself about it. Especially when I went to see it that Friday afternoon and then by Monday night, there were commercials showing Mary Jane finding out Peter was Spidey. That kinda stuff pisses me off.

Oh and am I the only one who looked past Kirsten Dunst's horrible acting enough to notice that her character was a complete slutbasket in that franchise?

I'm with the OP on this one. The trailer for Amazing Spiderman was terrible. The clip they show from the first-person vantage point where he's running and jumping across rooftops just looks atrociously cheesy, digitized and just plain bad. Plus, the dude playing Parker just doesn't do it for me. I have no urge to see this move whatsoever. That said, I'll probably see it.

Oh, and Captain America was pretty terrible itself.

Thanks. I hadn't seen the trailer.

You'd be hard pressed to get me excited about a comic book movie anymore. I'm just getting burned out. Obviously I'm ready for TDKR and maybe Sin City 2; but that might never happen. Thor did it for me. I was really excited and I left going "Ok. Why was I excited?" There are just too many of these movies. I'll go see em but I no longer hold any high hopes for them.

That looked decent until the POV angle which looked like a bad video game. I'll give em this though, Emma Stone > Kirsten Dunst by a lot.

although Spideman's orgin is in this new one. Amazing difference lie in the villains and supporting cast. Gwen Stacy and her story-line to the entire franchise is the most important one in this history of Spider-man. Hopefully the let this on play out through a couple of movies.

Gwen Stacy story worries me. I really don't believe they will do it right. Emma Stone is huge improvement over Dunsr, but I do not see them killing her. If you don't kill her, it won't work.

Andrew Garfield is actually a really good young actor, but you're right that a reboot is retarded.

The Spiderman movies (all of them, imo) ranged from abysmal to ok. The first one was cool because it was the first superhero movie for a long time that was worth anything, but watching it now makes me want to . Tobey Maguire plays up the whiny-ness too much, imo. 2 was ok because of Doc Oc, but again, nothing special. 3 was the worst piece of cinema in the last half century. When I saw it in theaters, people threw shite at the screen and my friends and I acted like MST3K about halfway through it.

I have no hope for the reboot since the character of Peter Parker in the first one was so pathetic. I'd like to see him as a stronger character, one that I don't feel like punching. Granted, Peter Parker is a giant baby in the comics for the most part, so I realize I'm asking too much and for the film to depart from the source material. He doesn't have to be Mr. Invincible, but give me some strong characteristic for me to hold on to so that I don't only feel sorry for a guy with super powers.

Sorry for the rant.
