This is a serious question - if you are in the market for something so frivolous to begin with, do you even need the pretense of narrative? Would you be equally happy just watching random action scenes employing the latest technology?

Yeah, exactly. Do they even make porn movies anymore? Seems like it's been totally reduced to what it should be...discrete video clips for distribution on the internet. Why can't The Transformers be the same way? If everyone already admits upfront how fricking stupid the "plot" is to begin with, then why even bother with it at all?

It wasn't in the original series, so it's basically a new character.

Your screenshots are blurry as shite dude. How the frick was anyone suppose to recognize who it is? Even then, I probably would have guess Optimus because of the amount of red and blue on his build.
Maybe they are including a big alien dragon robot. Is there a problem with that? If you don't like it then.... *insert hick voice* GETTTTTT OUTTTTTTTT!

The earliest TOY was 2007, the character made his first appearance in a 2002-2003 comic run. Still not legacy, but not exactly created for the movie (2009).

Slow your roll defensive fanboy. I like Transformers; I like the idea of a Transformers movie; and I liked the first Transformers movie. The second one, to be polite, more than left something to be desired.
It just adds to my speculation that the too many robots problem will persist in the third movie. I will likely still see it, but the trailer looked really busy, even given that it was a short trailer. When I watched the trailer live, I had no idea who that robot was. Did you even watch the clip again? Or are you in full on defense mode?
Watch the clip (non-stop), and name 5... hell, name even 3 robots.... not named Optimus.

Yea... The second Transformers was a disaster but even the 1st one had some disappointing moments that weren't funny. Anthony Anderson who I like was really not funny as a computer hacker. Also, the guy Area 51 guy tries way too had.
IMO, they need to drop the silliness and stick to badarseness fwiw.

Yes. I was pretty sure it was Optimus when I first saw it because of the blue and red and he used the sword before (Interstate interchange fight in T1).
I'm only familiar with a handful of Transformers to begin with. I did recognize Bumblebee
. Outside of OP and BB, the only Autobots I know are the Ghettobots (they weren't in the trailer), Ironhide (The truck), and Ratchet (red and yellow truck), but neither of the last two were in the trailer. I know Megatron and Starscream, but saw neither of them. Wikipedia has a list of all of the Transformers that will be in the movie, so I'll probably do some more reading when time gets closer to the movie. personally i hope this one is as good as the first which was actually decent. Unfortunately i see it being exactly like the second one with way too much going on and absolutely no direction.

Only a Prime can kill another Prime. The Fallen's brothers did try to whip his arse and put him in his place but he wasn't having it. They were like well we aren't going to beat this dude (wasn't like he was rolling solo) so all of the Primes with the exception of Optimus stowed away in the desert and sacrificed themselves to protect the Matrix.
