before this movie, I detested Hulk. I always viewed him as a humanoid version of Godzilla, no rhyme or reason to what he was doing, just running around tearing shite up. I always thought it was retarded.

The Hulk is a balancing act of control for Banner.
When he controls him, like in the final battle, the Hulk is the most powerful force for good in the universe.
When he can't control him, he is the most powerful rampaging force in the universe.
I have always lived the Hulk.
I was never an Avengers comic fan. I prefer the hero with a darkside, and anti-hero approach of the X-Men.
That said, Avengers shits all over all the X-Men movies. . .imho.
New class served a different purpose. I still don't think it told the story of how the X-Men were formed to any serious degree.
It seemed to be more involved in the history of Professor X's creating the X-Men, than the X-Men themselves.
Avengers does that. If Avengers was done the same way New Class was, the first hour would have been telling the story of Nick Fury, and what led him to decide to form the Avengers.

Avengers did better at telling a story about a group of people.
i dunno the whole
xavier-magneto-mystique and the youngins was a story about a group, they just didn't end up united in the end
if people want to break avengers off into a different group-set than TDK or 1st Class, then that's ok. but what is its competition? can't be spider-man, b/c that was relatively serious, too

Because it is better than First Class.
because it didn't have enough corny 1-liners?

as has been stated before, the hulk is one of those characters that changes with the wind. he's just a difficult character to keep consistent. he's either too powerful to create drama or too schitzo to do any good

Universal owns the right to Spider-Man
Sony, not Universal.

The entire group is needed to fight given they each possess a fairly specific skill set. The Avengers for the most part can hold their own by themselves, making the movies not really comparable.

I think Black Widow's reactions to Banner throughout were a great display of this conflict.

over the series of a comic book it works a lot better than what you can do in a movie. it's hard to make hulk work in a 2 hour setting
EVEN if hulk turned, the movie just becomes who can get hulk in the end for the final battle

Ruff signed on for 3 more movies, so I bet it is fleshed out rather well.

Oh, I'd like to put in an official GIF request of Hulk flinging around Loki.

This stands out to me as the ultimate in defying the odds. Cap knew he was going to die. He had no defense. Thanos had godlike powers, with which he slaughtered every other superhero who had stood against him. But Cap still wouldn’t back down, no matter what the cost, because it was the right thing to do.

One line from the movie that I thought would get a ration of shite on the internets:
Cap: There's only one God, and he doesn't dress like that.
Cap: There's only one God, and he doesn't dress like that.

One thing I never got was why they call Thor a demi-god, he's not really a demi-god.

quote:Not sure, either.

He is a full-on God, as far as I've known

Because he's not like a full God. Like he can't act like the Christian God and just do whatever he wants. He does have limitations and he can be smacked around.

there are many polytheistic gods from antiquity that are less powerful than thor is portrayed, fwiw
