The acting of Andrew Lincoln, Jeffery Dean Morgan, and even Laruen Cohen were fantastic. This episode was all about breaking Rick and it did that phenomenally
Agreed.
Rick was like a wild bucking bronco and Negan, in his own words, "shut that shite down".

No offense to you but I just can't see anyone who is a fan of TWD watching last nights episode and not liking it unless their a-hole is permanently puckered
My god people are so damn critical

didnt the threads last season say "no comics" in the title?

The Walking Dead's Facebook paged was filled with people saying last night crossed the line. People are pissed over how graphic it was, good for the true fans it'll weed out the bandwagon fans

First episode I have seen in a while. They still drag it out like crazy. And
at what Carl looks like now.

I'm not sure why people are so hard on this show.
Because it's popular.... and this is the internet

Look, the episode was effective in getting its point across. I just think it would have been even better had we not had to wait for the big reveal and then had to have the redundancy of the first 20 minutes of this show. It was a cheap trick.
I love this show despite its faults, but I certainly hold the right to criticize it.

I understand but I also hold the right to say that people over-criticize the show
Movie/TV fans are along the same lines of the hardcore gamers, they are so fricking hard to please

I actually think the opposite, revealing the death or deaths right away would have left less of an impact. Creating more tension again helped give the scene its impact. It needed some build up after the long break between seasons

Anybody that posts spoilers in a non spoiler thread should be banned, period. At least tol the season ends.
I agree with you but technically until a "NO SPOILERS" tag is added to the subject posters can post whatever they want.
That being said, please bring back the two separate threads!!!

This guy needs to be banned. He dropped all the deaths early before they aired and then spoiled the season finale already from leaks.

frick em. Been saying it all along, wish something would happen to weed out the yuppie fan girls & the whole damn PG happy ending type of pressure.
They dont even have cgi flies around the corpses anymore. Was in season 1. Had a corpse with rotten tits exposed. Pussies complained to amc. Like the massive alexandria herd..really think there wouldn't have been flies all through the air?
Hope this is the start of a new direction. The ZA is a brutal world. It would be a fricking never ending war. The people that want to complain about a show with that backdrop can suck it.
Go watch z nation or whatever that is on syfy

Next week I'm watching WestWorld first so I can fastforward through this shite. It's ridiculous. ETA: It's probably 35 min TWD and 25 min commercials and that's being gracious.
This is what I did last night, it made much more sense and I've always watched TWD on DVR bc its a commercial fest. With WW being on it works out very well.

I did enjoy the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer though.
And..sorta fit with Abe.

I agree with this blurb from a Variety article:
This show loves fricking with the fans
quote:
By killing Abraham first, the show managed to surprise even diehard fans. But it did so at a profound cost to the bond between the show’s creators and its fans. By tricking viewers into believing for several episodes in the previous season that Glenn was dead, even removing actor Steven Yeun’s name from the opening credits, Gimple and co. showed they were more concerned with continually shocking their audience than keeping faith with them. Repeating that trick in reverse, making us think Glenn would survive Negan’s deadly game of “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe” until that fatal thwack, confirmed that the “The Walking Dead” isn’t taking its viewers by the hand so much as jerking us around. It’s increasingly difficult to escape the idea that this is a show that gets off on torturing its audience.

Yes. Hence my reference to there being two threads, one for comics and one without.

Not sure if the comparison is right, but I'll say this was their Red Wedding. This is the game changer of the series, everything from here onwards will be completely different. Last night seems to have separated the dedicated fans from the casual ones as well. So much is about to change

My favorite part of the episode was when Negan took off Carl's hat and tossed it on the ground.

does the prison era count as torture too?
