Agreed. When I was watching the group kneel I thought how awful it was but at the same time I kept thinking they did kill 7 of Negan's people via RPG and deserved to be punished (Negan's thinking). I think a lot of viewers either didn't care or forgot about that storyline.
And all the people who were sleeping at that one post with the giant satellite.

Personally, I think "I'll find you" may be one of the best deliveries of emotion and tragedy in a single line in the entire run of the show.
The actors discussing it after the show tried to turn it into a high minded after-life pronouncement, but if you look at in terms of desperation and confusion from the damage Glenn had taken, it communicated that feelings of pain and death were akin to those moments in the show where he fought to find her and get back to her.
When he was without her earlier in the series, it was like dying and he experienced that one more time seeing her one last time. I don't think you can pull much more emotional resonance than that from a zombie series doing zombie things.
I think there may have been subtle moments that people missed because they were buzzing from the big gore. Negan had a throwaway line delivery to one of his guys dealing with Daryl that communicated that character's position as a fallen disciple in a big way.
In the last zombie moment of the show, Rick lets one go instead of killing it because he is exhausted. As he watches it in the rear view mirror, it does a zombie thing at the scene which is one more subtle violation to punctuate the costs paid by deciding to act or not to act.
I think they did a lot of emotional work with an episode operating under an impossibly high bar before it even started.

I took that to symbolize that Rick realized zombies were no longer the important threat to him or the group.

Excellent summary.
Also...

I also took Rick's not caring about the walker to symbolize "God, I have so much worse things to worry about now other than walkers." It was kind of a flash to the "good old days" when all the group had to worry about was the dead. Now the living is the bigger threat and as he drove away and looked back at the walker it was like he was leaving behind all the times he was more concerned about the walkers than other living people. And now he has Negan and that whole mess to stress over.
Just my take. I'm sure it can be interpreted in a lot of different ways.

At first I saw it as a "no more killing or death today, I don't have anymore in me" type of thing.

So, what do you do if you're Rick?
Obviously short-term they have to go along with Negan and his demands especially with Darryl as a prisoner, but what's the long-term play? Eventually try to cut the head off of the snake, or does Rick try to entice Negan into a mano a mano fight for the leadership?
I haven't read the comics, so purely speculation on my part...

Rick is no way shape or form prepared to fight Negan's group. I'm not sure where all of this goes and then there's the whole Kingdom that's about to be added to the mix so it'll be even more characters in play. S7 is going to be fricking blast.

I think you mellow out and lick your wounds for a little while to try and get some semblance back of normalcy.
Then, you evaluate resources and try to learn more about him and his group before doing launching some kind of revenge plot.
No way I can see Rick and crew just willfully submitting to someone forever. They would die before that, but they are smart enough to play the game for a while.

Maybe try to get some of Negan's men to turn on him (Negan). I'm thinking he has broken every one of them in the same way he broke Rick and maybe some are at the end of their rope. Who knows.

They've had to rescue daryl before and there is the comfort in knowing that out of all the people who could be captured and held as a prisoner, daryl would be best equip mentally and physically. Small comfort on ricks part. You have to recover and regroup for this type of revenge.
Maggie says what she says, about fighting..but mentally, I dont think she has been able to comprehend everything. It's gotta be an eventual battle though.

not to mention the expenditure of resources used to round up the grimes dirty dozen
in the context of the show universe Negans group was the aggrieved party in this narrow instance
