Damn, why is everyone trying to rip on rick? He's in a bad situation right now, but shite, he's helped and saved countless other people... I don't envy his position as leader in a time like this

He played nice to the face of the Alexandrians while scheming behind their backs.

He forced his group, some of them unwillingly (Glenn and the black dude) to slaughter a building full of their people in their sleep.

About the only good thing he has done over the last two seasons is continue to raise Shane's baby.

No it actually just adds to his power. He didn't say he would cut his arm off, he told Rick to do it, which he was going to do had Negan not stopped him. That was him just driving home "the Lord gives and the Lord takes" which was the final piece needed to break Rick down. Negan is so dangergous because he is god to his followers. Awfully hard to break someone away from an individual they believe to be in divine power.

So I am not sure if it's been brought up but i guess it was a foreshadowing when Glen saw the photos of the heads bashed in the building. Plus that goes back to the guy that took pictures of Abe's head bashed in the next morning (Polaroid). Guess it must be his thing.

"A real leader knows always when like to give and show generous to his unders."

Negan's walking a tightrope between useful and insane brutality. He got "the look he wanted" without creating an incalculably deep, personal hatred in Rick, which would have been a mistake given the trouble he went to not to kill him. Moreover, taking his boot off Rick's neck also promoted an involuntary sense of gratitude, tiny and disgusting though it may be.

No. You like him because he's a leader

He's not a leader. He's a bully. Who happens to lead a bunch of people that fear him. But no, he is in no way a real "leader". He's just a bully with a barb wire wrapped baseball bat, a warped mind and a bunch of groupies who give him power.

He's a leader to knows to break people. He is a master at mind games and that can be far more effective then just killing a group of people. Now instead of having a bunch of dead people he has an entire community working for him. Negan is an awful person, but a damn fine leader

Unlike Negan who just does what must be done, there are some people in his army who are nothing more than sick fricks who get off on gore porn.

I am not sure what any of that has to do with Negan being completely upfront and honest. He said he'd have everyone killed if Rick didn't cut off Carl's arm. Neither of those things happened. It was a mind frick. Negan is obviously a manipulative person. Such people are rarely trustworthy. I think it is too early to assign some sort of unflinching moral code to him after just one episode.

Absolutely. While I don't agree he lied to Rick, it's obvious he changed the rules a bit. He wanted to see Rick give in to having to cut Carl's hand off, which he did, before stopping him. I feel like Negan doesn't ever get complacent with a group. If Rick and Co. gather a ton of supplies and shower Negan with more than he has ever received, I doubt they get a "good job everyone!". He will probably then take 75% and tell them they are so good at collecting they can easily make up the difference.

I wanna know what the deal was with Dwight and his girlfriend early last season. They were trying to escape the saviors, then the moment Daryl mentions Alexandra community to them, they rob him and bail back to Negans group? doesn't make sense.

I've read the series, but this episode is just kind of gross at a certain point. Just masochistic cringe porn.

You should take a look at Dwight's face.

How does dwights face eventually getting burned have any relevance to that question?

Perhaps tortured and in fear?

Well we're not talking about a football team, or a fraternity or anything, this is anarchy. Historically the leaders of similar circumstances were also brutal. I dare say Rick's actions in the past from a different viewpoint were not too far off although not as direct.

But I'm just wondering why Dwight, who had escaped with that girl, suddenly decided to rob Daryl and bail back to negan the moment Daryl mentioned having a community?
Dwight had already escaped, and told that wade guy and the other of Megan's people they werent going back.

I believe this show jumped the shark in this episode.

I didn't like it and no longer feel like watching the series any more.

I still will, though.

It was just too gory, sadistic, and over the top.

Killing off 1 of the original characters didn't help.

It's hard to root for heroes who continuously make bad decisions and are now completely subjugated due to said bad decisions.

Jumping the shark would have been not killing one of the originals and killing one of the people we weren't attached to. It's a way to evolve the story line.
