re: Ozark - Netflix?

The point of the pregnant woman wasn't to show how backwards the country folk are. It was to show how sleazy the owner was. He clearly wasn't concerned about running a successful "gentleman's club" because he had other interests and endeavors. A pregnant woman is more jarring to drive that point. It's also just kind of a shock comedic effect.

Yeah. There's only country music at the Lake
of the Ozarks. And nowhere to buy pistachio ice cream for hours away.
And everyone who lives there talks like they're from Kentucky. This could be because they filmed it in Georgia. Dunno.
I still liked it. It was just a bit much on the hillbilly stereotype. Not redneck. Hillbilly.

Finished it this weekend. Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Yes it's a little heavy-handed in its portrayal of the locals as rednecky, but the story and a number of the characters have a lot of potential moving forward. Plus it's dark and dirty, I can get behind that. It certainly has more potential for future seasons unlike a show like Bloodline. Hope they get the chance, because I'll tune in for season 2.

I finished it last night. I enjoyed it for what it was. I am very interested to see where the writers go from here.

I'm 3 or 4 eps in and this is definitely worth a watch.
However, as a guy that is cool with the gays, once again we have a show with gay shoehorning. It is getting obnoxious.

It kinda makes sense in the end really. I'm on episode 9 now and I don't have a problem with it.
I didn't like the sex scene in the early episode because it was pointless, regardless of him being gay or not.

If the gay stuff serves the narrative, I'm good with it. If it doesn't, it is just annoying and shoehorned to check it off of the SJW demands.

I agree. I honestly don't like pointless sex scenes at all. If I want to see that, I will watch porn and get it over with.
Check back in after you're go finished with the series. I'm interested to hear you're perspective.

I'm finally finished with the series. Everyone in this series is nucking futs. Especially Roy, the FBI agent.
I did like how there was a definite conclusion and closure to season 1 while leaving open a lot of possibilities for more seasons.
The last episode was really drawn out IMO. It seemed like they really had to stretch to get that 10th episode in. It wasn't bad though.
Overall, I really enjoyed it.
The quote when Marty said "hearing the sound of your lover hitting the pavement is the only thing that helps me sleep at night" was absolutely priceless. Best I've heard in a while.

I really thought the pastor was going to drown his son. I even louldy said "holy shite" here at work. It was a good series overall. Outside of the episode they went back in time. I feel they could have squeezed that throughout each episode.

Damnit. I left my comment on this out of my other post. I had NO idea what he was going to do. I'm not saying it some all time dramatic scene, but I thought it was really good writing that either outcome would've made sense.
Agree 100% on the flashback episode. I hate when shows do that for an entire episode.

agree, I freaked out thinking the pastor was drowning the baby. Overall, I really liked the series and hope they make a second season

Just finished it, I liked it a lot. Also, the pastor looks exactly like Sean Ochinko

What the hell is with all the women punching dudes in this show?
Posted on 7/26/17 at 9:35 pm to Peazey
I took it as he was using it to launder money from other endeavors too.

That FBI guy had the worst hard sell of all time.

i think the point of that scene was he was killing the baby. but somewhere in the middle of it, he decided not to and brought him back up. thats not how you baptise a baby. this isnt the iron islands.

Spoilers
Did Ruth know her uncle was talking to FBI? Or was she just keeping Jason Bateman from getting killed? If she did know he was talking to FBI, how did she know?

Who do you guys think lives in these small touristy areas in the offseason? People that are stuck in small town USA. They won't all be idiot hillbillies, but a lot of them will be. Also we only really saw people that Marty interacted with. Those are the people he targeted. He was seeking local struggling businesses that he could manipulate. The normal people some of you respectards feel are underrepresented were not the kind of people he'd go after unless they had the right business like the normal woman that ran the inn.
