The only time we ever go is to the cheap theater around the corner from the house to take our daughter to kids movies. It used to be $1 a ticket. Now they've gone up to $1.50. It is always the movies just out of normal theaters and before DVD release. I couldn't care less if some other parents are in there texting, or if kids are yelling and talking.

Well you get what you pay for. But you can see how a family of 4 who spends $80 on a movie, popcorn, drinks and candy would be upset if their movie was ruined by yelling and talking.

I love the theater, but I do indeed hate people at movie theaters. I get pissed off really easily when people won't shut the frick up in the theater. Almost resorted in a bunch of rednecks trying to kick my arse after they got thrown from a movie theater, even though I didn't report them to the attendant.

You spend 80 on a movie, you deserved to be slapped.
Just saying.

I usually do, but alot of the times it makes the situation much, much worse. Try telling that to a bunch of black people who won't shut the frick up. I just walk out if they won't shut their traps after 10 minutes.

and the problem with going to tell the manager if they continue to do it is you miss parts of the movie.
like someone else said, I would pay more to have ushers in the room and escort talkers out.

80 bucks wouldn't be hard to spend with kids. My wife and I spend 25-30 even going to a matinee, and splitting popcorn and a drink.
We never go in primetime, and we usually wait a month if it's a hugely popular movie though. We rarely have problems.

Didn't they used to have this? I remember The Palace when it first started would have workers walk up and down the aisles.

:kige: You get one warning. After that, you've forfeited your right to be in the theater.

I live in BR and mainly go to either Perkins Rowe or the one by the MoLA. There are problems sometimes, but nothing too out of the ordinary (people talking, phones, or kids), but the large majority of the time, it's fine. I've found that bitching about movie theater experiences is becoming the cool thing to do these days. And no, I'm not saying that people even in this thread don't have legit gripes, but if you're having shitty movie experiences more often than not, then odds are it's your fault for going where you go.

Yeah, we just don't choose to go drop money on a movie that we want to see. Having to drop our kid off with one of our mothers, spending a couple of hours at the theater, etc. The last time we saw a movie, other than taking her to a kids movie, was when my wife wanted to see Water for Elephants. I think it was around $30 for the pair of us after concessions.
We also paid the $15 or $20 for a refillable popcorn bucket for the kids movies. $3 to refill this huge tub, and it is good for the year. So we spend about $8 to take the little one to see Tangled or Gnomeo and Juliet, and just sneak in a few drinks.
Going to the movies has pretty much outpriced what it is worth to me. If we're going to spend 2 hours and $30 on something, I'd rather grab a quick meal and not worry with a sitter.

Also, the volume is sooo damn loud. Who are they playing these films so loud for?

Nine out of ten times I go to the theater I only do matinees. Can't remember the last time I had a problem during the day.

It has to be something I really want to see and can't wait for it to come out on DVD etc. to go to the theater. I might go 3-4 times a year now. I much rather save the cash and aggravation and watch on the big screen at home.

I'm with you. We go about once a month to the theaters. For me, just about everything can wait until it is on TV.

I've found that no matter what movie it is, if you wait a couple weeks to see it, you won't have many problems. There aren't many movies that I feel like I need/want to be there opening weekend. Once the crowds die down, it's not usually bad at all.

Yea we never go opening weekend unless its an early matinee.

You're right, we went to see Chronicle the day after it opened and I can't remember the last time I saw a theater so crowded. Because we rarely go on opening weekend. We didn't have any issues with talkies though.
Then we go the the Shreveport Opera that night to see Carmen, and this lady down the row has her flipping phone out for 10 minutes after the show starts.
