That scene and the girl crawling under the garage door had me laughing.

That was fine. Homage to Rose McGowan in Scream 1.

This movie was stupid and extremely frustrating to watch. You have, in this movie's world, the most famous spree/serial killers in the country right? So what would have happened as soon as there was a double homicide in the same town on the anniversary? The FBI would have been called in, brought in wire taps for all phones, GPS locators, security, and GUNS with people who can shoot.
Why is it that no one was packing heat, or a tazor, or pepper spray? Seriously?
The movie relied on sheer stupidity to advance the plot.

Wow have you seen scream before? It's a big inside joke. It's not a serious look at a serial killer. Think you missed the point of the movie

Woodsboro didn't need the FBI because they had Dewey!

I know what the point is supposed to be. In the first Scream they pulled it off perfectly. It was a legitimately "scarey" movie with its lighter self-referencing moments. But in the end, however, it was actually a good slasher movie in its own right.
This movie was not a referendum on slasher movies, it was more of a spoof of the original Scream.

still has nice homages to past movies, knocks the horror genre, and still keeps some twists.

Spoiler
WTF did Jill want to have Sydney's life? It wasn't like Sydney wanted everyone around her to die and be in the limelight...it wasn't exactly a pleasure cruise

Come on dude, you didn't like anything about the movie?

It was about what I expected.. fun, some good laughs, some good kills, some absolutely ridiculous shite, some hot chicks. Entertaining.

I can say I enjoyed it. If it's to be the last one (though they left open the door for more again)then it's a much better conclusion than the abomination that was Scream 3.
This one is around the same value for me as Scream 2, maybe slightly behind and of course neither are a match for the original.

It felt more like a spoof/comedy then a real horror movie, even in Scream terms (Over the top book agent, the cops, the red-herrings, etc). The killer was absolutely ridiculous, even worse then Scream 3. Just to be famous she is willing to kill not only her mother but her cousin and every single person close to her? Plus I get how the 2nd killer could have been responsible for the killings but don't tell me a 110 pound girl could over-power any of the men victims. Maybe Gail and the book agent but that is it. I had hoped some of the originals would be killed off but they were not. Once I accepted the killer's identity, I had hoped she would have survived and added a twist to the series of a new killer each film kind of like the Saw films. That would have completely have flipped the series in a whole new direction.

Only 7 million made this weekend. A 61% drop. I think this may spell the end of the Scream franchise.

Damn that is a big drop
If they are gonna keep making Scream movies they need to kill everyone off from the originals and start fresh with a new storyline.

Jill didn't kill many people to begin with. She only killed three people while dressed as Ghostface and all three of them involved surprise and stealth.
She killed the two cops, both of which she took by surprise, and she killed her own mother by stabbing her through a mail slot. That doesn't take much strength to do.
Charlie killed everyone else in the Ghostface costume.

I always like going back and watching the old Screams to figure out which killer did the which killings. I'll have to do that with this one.

The gf and I saw this over the weekend, and we both thought it was pretty terrible. Some thoughts (some of which echo things already said):
Self-aware movies are one thing. This one was just too over the top and stupid. I agree with whoever it was that said this was basically just a shitty remake of the original Scream (which we all seem to agree was awesome). Or a parody even, a la the Scary Movie franchise.
The killers. So puny high school kid and deranged tiny chick are the killers? Yeah, okay. When they killed the cops, at one point, they showed the killer and he/she was taller than Anthony Anderson by a good bit. Neither of those two kids were big or tall at all. Not to mention that neither one of them were strong enough to pull off some of the killings. Which leads me to...
Anthony Anderson's death scene. How stupid can you get? Someone gets stabbed directly in the head/brain with about a 6 inch blade, and he walks around for 30 seconds and tries fighting the air? Okay...
The cops. Dewey is an idiot. And the other cops were just as stupid, if not more so. Stupid decision after stupid decision solely to advance the plot, like someome said. And I agree that it worked in Scream when Dewey was just a young, bumbling idiot officer on a real police force. But in this one, I wasn't buying him as the sheriff for a fricking second.
Also, just because you reference the first movie ("Just like Billy and Stu..") doesn't mean that anything you do after that just magically works and becomes legitimate. Don't pretend like you're making a legit movie or sequel, and then shroud the entire thing with self-referential bullshite. I'd have been much happier if they'd have jsut called this Scary Movie 5 and told me beforehand that it was a comedy.
Bad movie, although somewhat redeemable in how easy it is to make fun of.
