Shrek movies made a ton

But according to box office mojo it’s not $9 billion, more like $7 billion worldwide

RDJ doesn’t count. His crew didn’t even last an entire season due to lack of funny.

That list is from 2014? If that’s true I would think Robert Downey Jr would now be top that list.

Its Bill Murray.

He has a lot more memorable career than anyone else. Box Office doesnt mean everything.

1979-Meatballs
1980-Caddyshack
1981-Stripes
1982-Tootsie
1984-Ghostbusters
1988-Scrooged
1989-Ghostbusters 2
1993-Groundhog Day
1994-Ed Wood
1996-Space Jam
1996-Kingpen
1998-Rushmore(Golden Globe Nominee)
2003-Lost in Translation(Oscar Nominee)
2004-The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
2009-Zombieland
2012-Hyde Park on Hudson(Golden Globe Nominee)
2014-St Vincent(Golden Globe Nominee)

Thats 5 decades of excellence.

Belushi is probably the funniest man to ever live. If he hadn't passed...

Hell, his brother had 1/100,000 the talent and made a decent career out of it.

Eddie Murphy was legitimately a top 3 or 4 box office star for over a decade. I don’t think any other SNL actor comes close to matching Murphy’s fame and star power at his peak.

Murray’s certainly had a better career than Murphy but there’s no way in hell he was ever a bigger star. Think about this for a moment. This is the poster that the film studio used to promote Beverly Hills Cop.

Basically, their entire selling point to the public was watch Eddie Murphy be cool and funny and kick arse against bad guys. Beverly Hills Cop finishes #1 in the box office that year. That’s the type of drawing power Eddie Murphy has at his peak that neither Bill Murray or any other actor from SNL has come close to matching.

Its easily Sandler. He's maintained his star power for over 20 years now outside of SNL. Murphy is one of the top stand up comedians of all time but he has a lot of really bad movies. The Shrek franchise skews his numbers and he's not even the main star. Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2 were pretty big, especially if you want to consider inflation, and the Nutty Professor movies were big. Mike Myers is similar in that he has some big franchises but not much else. Murray has done mostly small budget hipster stuff for almost 20 years now. He doesn't have the mass appeal of Sandler or even Ferrell.

I loved What About Bob...but in all seriousness, Bill Murray was totally underrated in The Razor's Edge.
