I lost interest half way thru the season and stopped watching. I thought the first episode was great in mocking The National Anthem kneel situation and have J.J Abrams reboot the National Anthem. Then it went to crap from there. I told my friend I hate the season long one story arc. Fine to do a trilogy episodic arc like they did for ImaginationLand or the Game of Thrones/Black Friday spoof but last season was boring for the most part. They need to go back to the roots and have each episode different.

Last seasons finale was titled "The End of Serialization as We Know it" so hopefully they meant that.

To be fair, he wasn't wrong last season.
I've watched every season of Southpark since 6th grade and last season was the only one I gave up on

They need to get away from social commentary and come up with original ideas
Last season was bad. I think part of it was them never expecting to have to continue the Garrison/Trump character after the election, but it was bad before the election as well.
I agree with most in here that continuous story arcs seem to not work well for the show. But I totally disagree on abandoning social commentary. Satirizing the ridiculous shite going on in today's world has generally been absolutely hilarious.
