Clone Wars was a series on the cartoon network. It was 6 seasons I believe. Been a while since I saw it. Fills in a lot of the gaps between Episode 2 and Episode 3. It addresses Maul's story and why he is no longer a Sith, as well as Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship. Really adds a whole lot of depth to their battle last night.

I know what the cartoon was. I was just hoping for an abbreviated version of mauls story.

Me to. My son and I were watching and when he saw Maul he got really confused. I didn't know what to tell him as neither of us have seen Clone Wars. So if someone could give me an abbreviated version that I can explain to him, it would be appreciated.

The Clone Wars animated series and a Dark Horse comic book later showed Maul survived, sustaining his wounded body through the dark side of the Force and rebuilding his lower half with a set of mechanical spider legs. But the experience – not to mention his rage at being forsaken by the Emperor, who was once his master – also drove Maul to madness.

Found this here

I ain't gonna lie, the end of that fight scene was cool when half of vader's mask was sheered off showing part of his face and eye.

Really stupid for them to bring back maul. Does further damage to the end of the Phantom menace. Yes Lucas misused the character....but come on...he was cut in half and fell down a huge shaft....if he somehow survives you are turning the star wars universe into Friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street where Jason and Freddie can never be killed. Dumb.

Yet it's ok to have a cyborg who was de-limbed and lit on fire on a volcano planet walk around and kill someone with a laser sword and magic........

The Producer of Star Wars Rebels Answers Your Burning Questions About That Epic Finale and Beyond

What happened to Ahsoka Tano?

“I’ve already been devising certain specifics around the future of that character, where she is, what’s happening, if she dies, how would she survive if she did? All of those questions. I think they eventually need to be answered—but I wouldn’t look to that, frankly, anytime soon.”

Did Ahsoka’s battle with Darth Vader have any lasting impact on that him?

“I personally have never felt that anything changes Vader until Luke,” Filoni said. “The Vader that we encounter in Rebels was always meant to be the one devoid of emotions, except for anger, hate and suffering. That he was so trapped inside himself because of the terrible things that happened. Anakin never thinks of himself as betraying his friends. He sees it as his friends betrayed him and the Republic. He has to live on that side of the fence because the truth is just too damming.

“So he wants to destroy Ahsoka because she represents his past. She represents knowledge of who he was and he wants to wipe that out. His son represents a potential future because his son wouldn’t know who he was. So he could build a new galaxy together with his son. His apprentice is his past and he needs to destroy her.”

What was up with that very familiar looking green cross guard lightsaber?

Filoni said that Ezra won’t be replacing his broken saber with this one (unfortunately), but that it did not belong to a Sith.

Are the Inquisitors really dead and will there be more of them?

the Seventh Sister, along with the Fifth Brother and a mysterious new Inquisitor, are all dead and gone. In fact, Filoni hinted that we may have seen, if not the last of the Inquisitors, close to it.

“Will there be another Inquisitor? We’ll have to wait and see,” Filoni said. “But we are getting ever closer to the time period of A New Hope, and I’ve trying to live a little bit more by the rules you see in that film. And there isn’t a mention of Inquisitors in that film. It might be something you see less and less of.”

Can the good guys even be killed on a Disney XD show?

“If it serves the story, and the point of the story was to do that, then absolutely yes,”

Is each season a year of time in the bigger story? If so, that only gives room for, at most, two more seasons. Probably should be less if that's the case. Can't very well have 2-3 Jedi type folks running around that close to The Original Trilogy's start.

Still rumor, not confirmed, but interesting, none the less

quote:

Cinelinx is reporting a significant rumor that says that the show’s upcoming third season will in fact be its last.

Expounding on rumors reported on Slashfilm (by current io9 reporter Germain Lussier) in 2014, the site claims that Rebels will end after its third season, replaced by a new animated series that could be potentially set in the “sequel era” between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The third season would focus on linking the series closer and closer to the events of the films—specifically Rogue One—while wrapping up the character arcs of many of the characters on the show. Although the series would come to an end, the site claims, it would live on with direct-to-DVD releases to explore the characters' futures.

Filoni and crew plan on using the third season of Rebels to build up to events we'll see in Rogue One and the Original Trilogy.

I generally speaking like rebels, but the same problem from the clone wars

They ruin the uniqueness of Star Wars

The only thing unique from the prequels was maul's double bladed lightsaber, now everyone has them. I thought boba fett' armor was super unique, now everyone from that planet wears the same getup.

The production design is top notch. The imperial cruiser is freaking awesome.
Overall the movie captures the spirit of Star Wars unlike the clone wars. I like to view the movies as their own thing, that I can discard anything I don't like from other mediums so in that regard I hope that snoke and Ezra are two different people

So why did Vader walk away without going back to kill her? (Assuming that she didn't die and that was not a force ghost that went back in the Sith temple in the end). I think they will wait until the end of season 3 to show us what happens to Ahsoka. I don't think she's dead now because they wouldn't have left it open like that if Vader had killed her. They would have made a big deal out of it if a major character died.
