They dont want to get all cut up from a regular water snake. They werent trying to catch moccasins, so it doesnt matter. Water snakes like that have sharp but, short teeth. not long fangs like poisonous/ venomous snakes

actually, no they don't

copperheads don't have the traditional fangs most venomous snakes have.....when they bite, they kinda "chew" to inject their venom because they don't have the elongated fangs

You are confusing a copperhead with a coral snake. Copperheads are pit vipers. They have the same hinged fangs as a rattlesnake or a terciopela. Just not as big.
