Some of the episodes listed in here that people hate are making me scratch the frick out of my head.
Who the hell hates The Coon? Wtf?
And this past season was really good IIRC. It's not easy to be consistently good for 17 years of anything, but I think SP has achieved that. Maybe they aren't as good as their peak, but it's not really fair to make that comparison as it is called a "peak" for a reason. But SP is still very good and has remained consistently relevant, not to mention still hilarious most times.

Decline of South Park
Complete myth.
The last 10 years more focused on current events has made it a better show. It is an intelligent humor despite how vile the show is. The "misses" are few and far between.

It's a shell of itself and nowhere near as clever as it used to be.
The show went from nothing but crude language and fart jokes to now one of the most intelligent forms of humor on TV. GTFO.
ETA: The complete development of the character Randy from the early years to now is a testament to how clever the show has become.

I laughed more during the Hobbit episode than any episode in the last 5 years.

To the OP, every show has hits and misses. There is no decline.
The last one I watch was the hobbit episode and its in my top ten, So stop being so cray cray

No its not, its one bluntly sarcastic joke over and over for an entire episode. The "take" on it is something a third grader could pick up on. Not saying its all bad but that's not the direction I like.

Thats about the only one. While they've built up Randy they've neglected 99% of the other characters

Right, cause that's all the SCott Tenorman episode was ..or Mr. Jefferson...or Cartman gets an amusement park
It's a question of personal preference. I liked the earlier, off the wall humor. But yall are misrepresenting earlier south park. I don't care for new South Park. The last episode I watched was Revenge of the Goth Kids or whatever and it was atrocious. If ya'll want to keep watching go ahead, I won't call you stupid for doing so, its just not for me.

I liked this season, but I didn't care for 2011 and 2012. The coon is just gay. The problem is the episodes don't include many of the side characters anymore. I thought Mr./Mrs. Garrrison was great, along with Jimbo, Officer Barbrady etc.

That in particular really made the show fresh for me again.
I can't say it's any worse or better than it ever was. There's always a few episodes that leave me scratching my head going 'WTF is that all about', and there's always some really good ones, like the one this past year about the red cow and bringing Van Halen to the world. It's still some of the best thing going tube wise much of the time.

Let me first say that South Park can have an occasional brilliant episode, and I think the 2008, 2009, and 2012 seasons have some of the best episodes, but the show has noticeably declined in the last 10 years
You have got to be kidding. The show has evolved to the next level of humor. They can't do fart jokes and anal probes for 17 seasons. Their take on current events is damn near flawless.

I think you may not remember how reliant upon toilet humor and blatant sexual humor the first two to three seasons were. Scott Tenorman was in Season 5 as was Cartmanland. The Jeffersons was in Season 8.
By contrast, while hilarious, Chefs Chocolate Salty Balls was one big nutsack joke and it was in Season 2.
Its always been clever in some ways and theres always been some terrible episodes each season (although Season 5 may not have one--that season was insanely funny), but a lot of the humor leading up to seasons 4 and 5 was basic, juvenile humor. If you disagree, thats fine, but i think youll find yourself in the minority.
Additionally, if you are looking for irreverant and surreal humor like someone posted earlier as a reason for not liking the newer episodes, I think you need rewatch Imaginationland, the Cthulu episodes, and the Game of Thrones episodes at least.

Imaginationland is great, I concede. My timeframe should be clarified, Imaginationland came out in 2007. Though that's relatively recently, I'm talking mainly about the last 3 or 4 years of SP.

I like the earlier seasons much better than most here. I think you all are not giving them enough credit. I just like them more because frankly they were funnier. I can watch Rainforest Scmainforest or I'm a little bit country 1000 times and laugh every time. I'd say 90% of the last few seasons I don't give 2 shits about watching in reruns.
Freaux was right about South Park getting smarter. I think the Scause episode was one of their best ones ever, but it really wasn't as funny as an old woman yelling "make love to me Randy, please".
And while I'd like to say they rely on pop culture and current events too much, that part is really hit or miss for me also. I totally didn't get anything in the Thanksgiving /Thor/ Ancient Aliens one because I hadn't seen Thor or Ancient Aliens. But the Whale Whores episode is one of my favorites because I got everything. The Facebook one also.
Ive been saying for years that I think they are just trying to do too much. The animation is more sophisticated, a lot more happens in every episode it seems, they really dive into psychological profiles of the characters, it just doesn't make me laugh much anymore.
Did I mention y'all need to give the earlier seasons more credit?

Sarcastaball and Insecurity are two of my all time favorites and those were both in some very recent seasons.

I'm almost ready for Kanye to replace Chef (you know what I mean) - the character is that consistently funny.

Night of the Living Homeless is probably my favorite episode, think it was Season 11.
