Just got back from a 2nd showing, and here is another issue I have.
A giant spaceship crashes to the ground and Vickers dies bc she ran straight and Shaw lived caused she rolled three feet to the side?? WTF??
If a modern day airplane came crashing down on your head today, the chances of you living bc you moved three feet to the left or right would be unbelievable.

And I'm pretty sure both that ship in the beginning and the last ship were the same "arm" type of ship.
No I'm 100% positive they were different ships... The first one was basically A flying saucer

This movie was terrible.
But is it strange that the alien abortion scene kind gave me a stiffy?

Seems more likely you don't want to hear complaints about something you liked so you resort to ad hominem reasoning.

It wasn't Alien Resurrection bad, but it definitely has some problems and I don't think it makes it to the pantheon with Alien, Aliens and Alien 3

Obvious troll is obvious. C'mon man.
As per the debate over the different ships, I seem to recall the first ship being a saucer and the latter engineer-piloted ship to be the arm-type ship we see in Alien. That said, it doesn't mean that the engineers didn't have more than one type of ship. So I don't think it lends much support to the theory that the engineers' engineers were leaving him on earth in the beginning. I believe the beginning simply showed the engineer ingesting the black goo and devolving into trillions of DNA strands as a representation of the origin of "life" (and therefore humankind) on Earth.

We'll then I'm OK with the idea that the.Engineers changed ship designs in the huge amount of time between when life started by the Engineers DNA breaking down and 91 AD when the Engineers initially tried to destroy life on Earth. That is assuming the opening scene was Earth.

There's nothing wrong with leaving an audience with questions, but this damn movie didn't explain a thing.
I enjoyed the score, scenery and Elba and fassbender.
The story was idiotic

This isn't a troll job.
Anyone who loved or even liked that movie was going to like it no matter what cause they wanted it to be good.

I think it could be better said that those expecting far more connections from Prometheus to the original Alien film were slightly disappointed. I would fall in that group but only due to that reason. That said, I really enjoyed Prometheus and see no way there isn't a sequel that provides a greater link to Alien, because the audience is left with so many unanswered questions.

Friend wanted to see it and was willing to pay for an IMAX ticket so I figured why not maybe there was something to be learned in a 2nd viewing plot wise.

1. the xenomorph genesis. they have the mural, which means at the least the engineers knew of the species. however, in the movie it took variables (namely, human hosts) that were not present to create the xenomporphs
This remains my biggest question from the movie. What exactly IS the relationship between the engineers and the xenomorph? Did the engineers create the xenomorph species as a biological weapon? We really get little to no answers regarding where the xenomorph originally comes from.

2. if it took humans to make the facehuger-type creature that led to the xenomorphs (in the jockeys), how did these weapons get developed to the point where they made the jockeys stampede in fear/kill them and stack up the bodies?
I'm not so sure it requires a human to make a facehugger; I just think that's what we saw happen in the movie. Perhaps the engineers sacrificed members of their own species to create the xenomorph creature to then use as a weapon. Something has to explain the mural in the Stone Dome that seems to serve as a form of worship to the xenomorph...again, it's this unexplained link and history between the engineers and xenomorph that just left me wanting more answers.

I think people are placing too much emphasis on how the Alien as we knew it developed. Particularly, I think that the evolution theories are misplaced. In the Alien/Predator literature, the Aliens could uses different animals as hosts for their eggs.
Obviously something happens to create the Aliens that eventually developed in later films, but I don't think that evolution is the answer.

I agree with poster above. I saw this movie with two buddies (one is a big Aliens fan) and we all agreed that it was pretty horrible.
Now I ADMIT that I'm not a big sci fi fan so this was excruciating for me to sit through.
