The story telling solution is really simple. So simple, we'll never get it.

If Hollywood truly wants to create a 'It's a small world' brand of story telling, then make new stories that accomplish the things they want to promote. Also, draw from real world scenarios where races and cultures all blend & interact seamlessly together.
OR
Tell stories of humanity as based on authentic and real world history, so as to convey that everyone has a unique story to tell, from their own perspectives, history and that glossing over these differences with artificial swapping and retconning may make a very few FEEL good, temporarily, but in the long run, we all lose.
Pretty sure I know which path they'll choose though.
* I see from the DVs that we have a handful of really committed authoritarian loving dolts who simply LOVE being told what and how to think.
Sad.
