Pretty solid so far and they've done a good job of distilling things down. And most importantly keeping FDR out of the show.
ETA: And here comes Woodrow to shite in the punch bowl.

The Men Who Built America was badass. This looks to be a similar production.
This is just like The Men Who Built America and pretty good though I hate seeing that WW II M5 being used as a WW I Renault arghh. Too bad I cannot finish watching as a rainstorm has taken out my DTV, will have to DVR it later tonight.

In other news, just saw a commercial for "D-Day in HD" coming on History Channel June 6. Absolutely loved WWII in HD.

Not sure who this Hitler guy is stealing Michael Jordan's mustache game.

This has been good so far. I guess the next 2 days will all be WW2.

Lotta ground to cover between wwI and II. Wouldntbe surprised if half of next episode focuses on 20s and 30s

I just hope this is better than America: The Story of Us
It's not. It's the same damn thing. It's more for entertainment purposes than a good, comprehensive documentary or even docudrama. People will lick it up though.

It was okay, but kind of cheesy. The opening credit sequence was gay as hell.

I watched it and thought it was thin. Too much ground to cover and not enough time. Plus I don't give a rat's arse what the political figures think. Historians and military comments were Ok. I liked the tie in with his breather not sealing to Hitler's Charlie Chaplin 'stash.

I watched one of the shows entitled WWII in HD yesterday. It was about the Normandy aftermath and the battle for Saipan. The Saipan footage was grisly. 37000 of 40000 Japanese soldiers died and large numbers of Japanese civilians leapt to their death from Marpi Point (Banzai Cliff) at the orders of the Emperor of Japan. Over 3000 American soldiers lost their lives in the battle.

Should I have watched this?

How far has History Channel fallen when the World Wars is at least a respite from Down East Big Game Hunters.

I thought this first part didn't do a great job of condensing some things. The Russian Revolution, for example, was WAY more complex than it was portrayed. And their timeline was a little out of whack. The Russians didn't leave the war until early 1918. As a PhD student in history these problems bothered me and will always bother me in documentaries meant for mass consumption.
BUT, this was infinitely better than America: The Story of Us. That was a giant heaping pile of garbage. Just by having legitimate, university-trained historians serve as commenters The World Wars was a vast improvement on The Story of Us. Plus the idea of presenting the entire period from 1914 to 1945 as one giant 30 Years War is something that the average viewer probably hasn't considered.
TL;DR version: Historians will find points to gripe about but this is, so far, the best thing the History Channel has done since WWII in HD about 4 or 5 years ago.

How about that Mussolini went from a reporter to a dictator? Couldn't imagine that today.

So is this happening every Sunday, or is it happening again tonight?

It's a three night series. Next one comes on at 8 central time. First one is in right now.
