I was about to say that. Filming/production won't start for another 2-3 months, so Alan Ball won't be confirming for a while if they're even introducing Quinn, let alone casting his part. I'm guessing they'll bring him into the series as Sookie's new love interest since she's "over it" with Bill and Eric and the vampire drama. And yes, I do think she could fulfill having future grandchildren by sexing it up with Alcide.
And as for Pam or Nan digging up Russell...that sounds very plausible/likely. Pam is whiney and jealous that Sookie is taking her place in Eric's mind, and Nan wanted to go rogue on the Authority. We'll see how it all plays out.
Anyone find it interesting that they didn't show Sarah Newlin? I wonder if she's a vamp too?

Russell Edgington coming out the grave and Eric/Bill rebellion is the only thing saving this show. Every other story line is quite frankly useless contrived filler.
Hopefully the Wolf/Panther killed Sam too. Just knock em all out in one episode.

Since Tara's face got shot up a bit I am afraid that they will save her by some means.
I have obviously forgotten but just what are the AVL and Authority?
Also, can't Jason just renounce the invitation so he can't get inside his house?

I know they have something to do with the kings of the states and the area sheriffs but im not sure which is which. I think the authority is the one who grants all that and the AVL might be the ones trying to bring peace between the vampires and humans. they might be mostly one and the same.
going along with that, who was the guy who forced bill to turn jessica for killing eric's bartender? what happened to him?
ETA: after reading up on it, the AVL seems to be the public face of the authority. The authority is a governing body of all vampires worldwide and the AVL seems to support the authority's agendas. I guess the AVL (American Vampire League) is the public face of the authority in the US.

Northman killed him in the basement of fangtasia in season one or two

You mean the magister? Pretty sure Russel killed him. That was when you knew he was a serious badass with no respect for "the authority"
And wow, that was a serious episode. Holly has more witchy powers than I would have thought, too--some salt, some chanting with a couple of "civilians" and BAM, insta-ghosts! It probably helped that it was Halloween.

Great episode..
Everyone hated Tara and Jesus, now they are both gone..
Jessica boobies
Finally got to see Sookie blow Debbie's head off.
Best finale episode they've done, but they sure know how to make you wait it out for nine months.. .

The teased return of Russell Edgington along with Eric and Bill going rogue sends the message that shite is going to hit the fan in Season 5. Steve Newlin as a vampire provided the biggest WTF moment of the finale, but it did tie up a loose end. He disappeared due to being made a vampire, but why he was made a vampire and who made him should be explained in Season 5.
The witch story is finally over. Lafayette has to live with what he did even if Jesus told him that it was okay. I liked his character, but since Lafayette is a medium, Jesus may still play a role in Season 5. Tara, Debbie, and Nan are also dead. None of us could blame Sookie for blowing Debbie's head off. Nan wasn't fooling anyone, but we won't know if anything she said about the AVL or the Authority is true until Season 5.
The other cliffhanger in this episode was with Sam. There are clearly consequences of killing a werewolf pack leader, but Sam has proven to be more than capable as a shifter. One has to think he'll be fine.
Rene coming back to warn Arlene about Terry certainly is a curious shift in the story. One has to wonder where this story will go next season.
Pam's loyalties to Eric are also questionable to this point, but I believe she is still loyal to her maker even if Eric was not happy with her over the incident with the witches. Pam still seems willing to follow Eric to the gates of Hell, so I don't suspect her of exhuming Russell.
Despite all this, there are still a few loose ends that need to be tied up in Season 5. Who exhumed Russell? Was it the Authority? Was it a rogue Nan? Or has Pam really gone off her rocker? Is the werepanther storyline really over or will those events come back to haunt Jason? Who made Steve Newlin into a vampire? Is Sarah Newlin dead? Will there really be a vampire schism?
I have to give it to Alan Ball. This was a good finale to a good season.

as long as she is DEAD FOR NOW and misses a couple of episodes, then i'm ok with that.

Yeah there's no way Tara is dead. We can only hope she goes back to her secret lesbian life.

wow...what a crazy finale. SO many twists I wasn't expecting!
Anyone notice how shocked/surprised/disappointed Terry's Marine Sgt was when he said he had a wife?
Didn't expect to see ghost of Renee but that was cool.
for all the crappy people killed off!
Should be interesting for Season 5.

How did the wolf sneak up on Sam? In every episode leading up to this shifters and werewolves have always sensed each others presence.

I guess Sam and his gf were too preoccuppied with each other?? But good catch. You would think either of them would have smelled the wolf coming.
