I watched the episode 3 preview and this is what I observed:
-Marty asking Rust if he can love 2 women at once
-Rust saying "I don't think a man can love"
-Catching a break in the case and the 2 black detectives/investigators thinking that Rust manipulated the case
-Marty getting mad that Rust is at his house
-Pictures of victim's dead bodies
-Tent revival
-Rust being interviewed again
-Guy walking around in a weird mask in his underwear

One quote that stuck with me was "why wouldn't a father bathe his own child?" when they were talking to Dora's mom.
Yeah, perhaps the dad was a pedophile?

Yeah that was a weird scene.
Feel like I need to rewatch both episodes...very intricate show.

could they be using unreliable narrator device here? aren't the flashbacks showing the events as told by the two main characters in their modern day interviews with the current detectives?

really Lost-esque, but with amazing titties thrown in for good measure.

* Rust's "faded memory of a town" observation is profound because all the flashbacks are Marty or Rust's recollections (we don't necessarily know which, at any given point) in the 2012 interviews. Thus, maybe they contain errors
I'm curious as to whether a closer examination of each narrative offered by Marty or by Cohle is colored by their own perception or maybe even some fudging of the details. Will be interesting to see if some inconsistencies develop between flashback scenes as told by Marty versus flashback scenes as told by Cohle.

* The murder victim arrived at the brothel because of a bad relationship or abuse from her Uncle. The disabled man was the Uncle of the little girl who disappeared several years before, and a Devil Trap was found on his property.
Where was that devil trap found again?

Not sure; just found some really good videos on the True Detective youtube page though.
Tent Revival--definitely has the stars connection that was previously mentioned

Anyone else have to explain that this was not the KKK to your Alabama friends.

They found it in the shed outside of the former LSU baseball player's house.

I've been looking at tumblr off and on today. This gif is interesting. Seems like Maggie may have put Marty out of the house because of his sidepiece.

MM is so thin, he must have done this right after Dallas Buyers club.

A serial killer has been killing young ladies (possible prostitutes/drug users) around the Jennings area. Hadn't been any more since maybe 07. Some believe it is a cop doing the killings.
Since Pizzolata is from LC, I wonder if the story/area planted a seed for the procedural.
he wasn't around during that time period and he seems a lot more focused on creating an occult story
