I think the can role with a similar looking actor can be done.

Scripture paints a picture where Jesus was both same and different. He had his wounds, but at times was not recognized by his disciples. Not immediately knowing it was Jesus was key to many verses.

I like Jim Caviezel. He's a good actor and seems to be a good Christian role model in Hollywood. That being said, he's much too old to play Jesus Christ in a sequel to a film that was produced over 20 years ago. He'd be close to 60 in 2027 when he's doing press for this movie when the real guy was 33 at the time of these events.

I agree.

Joaquin Phoenix playing Napoleon didn’t work for me for the same reason. Just too old for the part. I’m glad someone else is playing Jesus even though I usually don’t like casting changes either. I do in this case, though.

Why they can't find an actual Jew or Jew looking person to play Jesus is ridiculous.

Look at The Chosen. That's a very Jew looking goyim.

I honestly think its best to not a have a recurring actor play Christ. It gets a little....problematic if people start picturing you when thinking of God. Same thing has been discussed a lot in theological circles about Roumie.

Having a new guy every movie separates the portrayer from the role and doesnt allow the audience to unintentionally get attached to a false image.

It also doesnt allow people to think "ugh, the role of Jesus Christ BELONGS to Jim Caviezel!"

Its not just a movie role and shouldnt be viewed like any other role.

Worse than that was he was black balled for that movie.

No he wasn’t. He headlined a major TV series a few years later, person of interest. He was also the lead on The Prisoner.

Frequency is on of my favorite movies. I like the guy as an actor, but would agree his is kinda one-note which limits his roles.

Maybe they offered that sum because they wanted to go a different direction?

You proved my point without trying.

7 years after Passion and we are talking about a TV series that only ran for 5 seasons and could have been cancelled at anytime.

A 6 episode run 5 years after?

Filmed 4 years before Passion.

Goes from acting in big movies to a TV series 7 years after is the definition of being black balled.

Jim is devout. Id imagine he would even do it for close to nothing if he thought it was part of his calling.

At least we have the full story. No concern about a rushed ending with Jesus going crazy and burning down Jerusalem.

He was in Deja Vu with Denzel like a year after the Passion.

Was it supposed to run for 20 just because Jim Caviezel was in it? Maybe it sucked but still had a good run.
