Daisy Edgar Jones… it’s great to see a heroine that’s believable and not forced. From the very beginning her character is developed, and coupled with the flashbacks, makes her heroic act believable and just fun to watch. Tyler is right when he tells the reporter that’s been following him… “Kate’s the story.”
This. Develop the character well and feature a good actress in a good story and people don’t give two craps about what sex the main character is.

Saw it last week. I liked it for what it was even if it was very over the top. “Hangman” is just a like-able character even though he’s kind of a douche in everything.

This hit streaming.
I had no idea it was a lifetime movie with bad weather.

the main character Kate is supposed to be the daughter of Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton's characters but they, obviously, couldn't get them.
But she calls her mom and the movie shows her mom. Wonder why they couldn’t cameo HH for that roll?

I just watched this on one of the apps and it was terrible lol - horrible acting. The special effects were cool but the acting and plot just ruined it for me

Just watched it today:
The blonde guy and girl were good but I thought Superman should’ve been the ex instead of the Hispanic guy.
And none of his hippie crew were compelling or entertaining like the original movie.
Also, how did they not tie in the original by having one of the blondes be the son or daughter from Helen hunt / bill Paxton?

I watched this a couple of nights ago. I found it to be incredibly dumb, cheesy, and just overall ridiculous. Couldn't even finish it. A slap in the face of the original. Really surprised to see all of the positive reception in this thread.
The only thing I actually enjoyed was Glenn Powell's ridiculous character. That was pretty funny. And the lead actress is nice to look at. That's about it.

Powell was basically a caricature of Reed Timmer in his early chase days.
it was an ok movie - nowhere in the same realm of the 1st, but I can separate them from each other enough to enjoy both.
legacy tarnish is a played out complaint

I don't really disagree, but it was just so much worse than the first, and it really shouldn't have been.
It could be that I'm just too close to the subject matter, and was hyper-critical watching it. But the part where these expert storm chasers are at a rodeo with hundreds of people in attendance when there is a multi day historical tornado outbreak, and they have no clue that there is an immediate threat for tornadic activity? And there are no warnings, alerts, just absolutely nothing? I simply couldn't suspend my belief enough.

I highly enjoyed it and find myself liking it just as much as the first. Obviously the first one had an epic score and the actors but take the blinders off. It’s just as cheesy and ridiculous. Majority of it is Paxton and hunt arguing about some drama.

I just cannot agree. For one, the cast in the first one was elite, and deep, therefore the acting was miles better than the sequel. That alone makes it a much better movie. The acting in the new one isn't awful, but it ain't great. B-rate at best. They definitely didn't convey the intensity and seriousness of the situations they are in, or the PTSD that comes with surviving a tornado but losing most of your best friends.
Also, as is the case with most movies these days, the new one has way too much ridiculous cgi.
and while I thought that driving through a tornado and shooting fireworks off inside of it was pretty funny, its just way over the top and silly.
And making the female lead out to be some kind of tornado chasing savant was cringey. Like she was the only one who could predict exactly where a tornado would go because she throws a dandy lion up into the air, and can read the wind by looking at corn fields, but all of the meteorologists, and tornado experts that are congregating there in Oklahoma can't figure that out. Oh yeah, and she cracks the code on how to destroy a tornado
I'm really not one to be "that guy" that over-analyzes everything, and pits sequels against originals, but this one was just egregious.
