As others have said it get's much better after ep. 3 but I'm surprised you picked ep 3 as your time to rant.
I had your reaction after ep.2, and then ep.3 is actually where they really picked up with the nuggets that give you hints of what is to come.

I told Mrs. Vox when she was totally turned off by the first 3 eps that she missed the boat by falling asleep before #4.
It's not about the sitcom hijinx, but the spaces in between the old comedy tropes where reality pokes through in those first 3.

No, and nothing of significance happened really.
If you're following the MCU, some big things won't make sense unless you caught this series. Now, there's a lot of what you could call 'filler', and this could have been boiled down to a movie lasting around 90 minutes. And these are characters that probably wouldn't have made a lot of sense with their own movie (although I'd have said that with Ant-Man, and we have 2 of those now).
Comics are serial in nature, things tie in over time. The longer you make something, the more you can toss little eggs in, that otherwise would be missing.
The MCU has a great track record with continuity, which is one of the things that makes it so fun.
