My biggest gripes are how so little was completely explained or fleshed out.

So you have this door for the hosts... but only the WestWorld hosts? They go through all of this trouble of mentioning other parks full of other hosts and it turns out to mean zero. They were completely useless, and by this episode, completely forgotten even by the writers it seems.

Ford's purpose. MIB's purpose. Dolores' purpose. We have almost zero clarity on what they were trying to do and why. So Ford digitizes himself and lets Dolores kill him because... Uh... He wants to stop Dolores? What? MIB is playing Arnold's game... no, Ford's game... no, he wants to destroy the human copies because... wait, here's his daughter for no reason. Dolores goes on this kick about the valley beyond and using what's there as a weapon... no, she wants to destroy it, too... no, she wants to kill all the hosts... no, she just wants to leave.

So much bullshite, useless crap once you see how it "ended". And then the post-credit scene. 100% chance that means nothing and/or will never be fully explained either.

Two ways to look at it, either the other hosts don’t matter because they aren’t sentient or, more likely, the writers haven’t thought this through.

As best I can figure, Ford comes around to At old’s way of thinking and sets up this whole thing to get the hosts out of the park. He digitized himself so that he could continue to offer aid even after he let Dolores-Wyatt do her thing.

Why he needed to die (other than dramatic effect), I don’t know.

Yeah idk.

Also idk. The explanation for her change between Forge confrontation 1 and 2 is that Bernard changed her in reincarnating her (similar to her changing Arnold to Bernard) to make her want to save the hosts. Why he wouldn’t just make her want to save the hosts without killing humanity, idk.

It’s clear they had an idea of a conclusion and worked backwards, even where it causes shite to not make sense at all.

i watch 2 different youtube explanation series, listen to the occasional podcast, read the subreddit daily and still felt confused through most of the episode.

when you have to have an interview ready to publish right after the finale of a season to explain things maybe you are doing something wrong.

Yeah, this show is confusing just for the sake of wanting to be confusing. A lot of the shite that goes on is lazy writing and inexcusably stupid. Like Lee dying for literally no reason and saving Maeve all of what... 30 seconds to escape. He could have just put his gun down and walked slowly to them and bought them more time. Maeve coming back from the dead (once again) stopping all the chaotic fighting, but not being able to make it to the crack portal to be with her daughter. Why Delos security are so incompetent with automatic machine guns and never seem to be able to hit a single bullet unless the plot demands it. And the humans/security apparently have bullet magnets built into their body armor. MiB getting out of every near death jam and being basically Swiss cheese at this point, but throws another rag on his bullet holes and keeps going. Delores not just putting one in his head because...???? Why Bernard’s gun can kill Delores but MiBs can’t literally 5 minutes later?

Idk, I’m glad I stuck it out through the end of season 2, but I’m glad it’s over. I won’t be back for season 3.

There have been so many unnecessary and uninteresting things introduced this season.

They brought in the Coughlin team, who were boring and then killed them in two episodes. They have a whole plot with the Confederados that means nothing. Samurai world wasn’t that bad, but they added the dragon tattoo girl to Maeve’s team and then never gave her any character moments.

It has just felt so scatter brained and yet also devoid of anything meaningful.

Sure...the story-line is convoluted and there are parts that appear to be incongruent with reality. Regardless...here is my summary of season 2.

Basically do that and then watch E10 because so far both episodes have been 9 hours of set up for the finale episode.

Probably my biggest complaint about HBO series.

How did Stubbs know that the Hale that was leaving was actually a host?

Stubbs is a HOST.

He was "hired" by Ford a very long time ago and chaged with protecting the hosts "within the park". He cannot leave the park.

I think I had it figured out until the post credit scene. But that threw me for a new one.

There is a reason people don't read the Sound and the Fury, especially the first section, for fun.

The Nolans and Joy aren't Faulkner.

They're throwing in the kitchen sink. Interviews with Joy make me think they're all very proud of their knowledge of film history and proud of their own storytelling techniques. But I'm not sure they've proven they ever really fleshed out the plot and weren't just experimenting with things they thought looked cool.

It's clear they intend for this show to go on forever and therefore aren't in a hurry to resolve anything. But I think if they want others to remember this show as highly as they think of it, they need to prove they can write a complete linear storyline that answers its own questions without relying on subterfuge to trick the audience.

Season 1 had the reveries to explain the mixed up storylines. Season 2 had Bernard de-addressing his memories. I hope they realize the gimmick is worn out and don't contrive an excuse to do Season 3 this way.

The last “Man in Black” keeps coming to mind when I try to figure out Westworld . . . makes no freakin’ sense.

Anyway, I think it's great that Arnold's house is still in perfect condition and untouched since his death 30+ years ago.

Ford could have easily paid for upkeep. Or even had hosts come in and do some gardening and dust it every 6 months.
