These are all separate universes, things happen differently in each show.
The one you cringed at and bailed on, T'Challa being Starlord and ultra-charismatic;
yeah he met Thanos and talked him out of destroying half the universe. If you saw the end, Ego goes and finds Peter Quill, as always.
If you extrapolate that outwards, Peter again survives exposure to Ego, but without the Guardian's help Ego goes on to succeed in his plan. You had to kill him to stop it, and nobody would have the slightest clue.

Tried doing that on my laptop and the image kept coming in black. If I made it not Fullscreen then the browser top and start bar at the bottom would be there. The video is still black when I do that.

You know what series this show reminds me of? Fringe. Where it starts as a monster of the week show with a supernatural theme of parallel universes, but then toward the end starts weaving it together into a single narrative. The Watcher and the Observer are obvious comps to each other, too.
