Palpatine wasn't developed either. I mean you don't have to answer everything.

All you needed to know with him is that he was an evil emperor who was elected and then formed a brutal dictatorship under himself using the Dark Side of the Force. But with Snoke.... where is he during the OT? This guy seems powerful, ancient, and important. There needs to be some explanation for how he came to power.

Driver was another big highlight on the 2nd viewing.

The throne room fight scene really is outstanding as well.

Trust me, if Return of the Jedi had been made in this day and age of expanded universes and cinematic universes then this board would be ask, NAY!...They would be DEMANDING to know who Emperor Palpatine was. Where did he come from? What’s his home life like? Does he rent or own?

Audiences today demand too much. I’ve never cared what Snoke did or who he was to get to where he is now. Why? Because it doesn’t matter in the slightest in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars is for children. All you needed to know in 82 was that the hooded guy that appears on screen for the first time 40 minutes into the final movie of a trilogy is the personification of evil. That’s it. I don’t need to know how he ticks. I don’t need his story.

Snoke was a side character. And I’m not trying to be derogatory here, but I’ve never given less fricks about the back story of a MINOR character in a movie. And there is no debate, Snoke is a minor character through the first 2 films.

Yeah I completely forgot about where they explained all that in Empire. Or was it RotJ?

No he isn't. He is the one who created the conflict between the original trilogies and these.

He also had no one to show him the dark side of the force. This means the writer either completely ignored the established rules of their own story, or they need to explain why he was able to do this.

Like I said earlier, if Jon Snow starts flying and shooting fireballs in GOT, then the writers better give an explanation.

I’ve been saying since I got on here opening night and saw a bunch of bitching about no snoke backstory. In empire we got a short scene of the emperor as a hologram giving orders then in rotj we got him sitting in a chair.

In FA we got a scene of snoke as a hologram giving orders and in tLJ he’s sitting in a chair.

Everyone gives the OT a pass for this, but with this new trilogy the sky is falling and Disney has ruined our beloved franchise.

Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly flaws with this movie, but the ones I see most on here (snoke only one example) and elsewhere online are undeserved.

Was this in TFA?

Because I know this wasn’t.

Unfortunately this went over my head as I’m not a GOT fan.

All I know is that when the OT came out you watched the movie and hoped there would be another one. You discussed them a little with your boys and then you went play basketball.

You didn’t come up with theories that you could publish on YouTube for the joy of getting views. And there were very VERY little of anything in the EU.

So I understand that you probably would like to know the answers, but ultimately, that’s for another movie or trilogy.

None of that is important to me. I don't care if you're right. Watching grown men behave like teenaged girls is entertaining, regardless of what's driving it.

Exactly, it's a good movie about Rey and Kylo, if you focus on them. It does not fit in the Saga.

Maybe start the next one with Luke in the Tree at Achtoo mediating. Realizing if he didn't join the fight now, the Rebellion would die. Knowing if he did join he couldn't save his sister. Having the ability of projection and foresight he reaches out to Leia for the last time.
Luke Joins the Rebellion.
Meets the group after the events of the first movie rides around in the Falcon to go get some Force users.
The commands ship's bridge explodes and Leia is sucked out and Luke not having the power in Achtoo cannot save her. She dies in space.

Start episode 9.

Not knowing where Snoke came from is a nothing-burger to me.

I have a feeling Kylo was lying about Rey’s parents. He’ll, Obi Wan lies about parentage in the OT. frick me if I’ll trust the dude that killed Han Solo.

My gripe is plot points and characterizations. That feel out of place. It’s an alright movie. That’s it. Alright

No they wouldn’t, because they’d rightly be assuming it would be answered in the prequels. It’s also just easy to assume he was democratically elected and with Vader turned it into a dictatorship overnight. I just can’t come up with any logical explanation in my head how Snoke got into power where he is.

The point of my post is snoke’s backstory. It was never revealed to us about the emperor’s until the prequels. But all of the sudden since we don’t get everything NOW, Disney has fricked the fans over.
