I used to love Howard the Duck as a kid but haven't seen it in at least 15 years so I'm sure it actually is crap. Worst movie I've ever seen would have to be My Boyfriend's Back. Even as a kid I hated it

Anything that starts with "Tyler Perry's".

FWIW whoever said "Groundhog Day" should look into sefl-castration for the good of society.

My vote for recent worst movie is the Happening

I'm going to have to watch "The Happening" again, because I just don't get all the hate. I often disagree with Roger Ebert, but I'm in total agreement with him that it was an entertaining movie with a lot of creepy atmosphere that draws one into it.

You mean like Markie Mark talking to an artificial plant?

Like I said, I need to see it again. I don't remember that scene, but there was nothing that made me want to walk out on the thing, which is what happened when George Lucas introduced "midiclorians" and the virgin birth of Darth Vader. All I could think was, "frick you very much, George," and I remember it years later. With "The Happening", I found it possible to suspend disbelief long enough to get into it and wonder WTF it would be like to live through the bizarre events. In contrast, I had a hard time getting through "Benjamin Button", which I saw just a few days ago. The high point of that film was easily the lightning victim.

Don't forget about Toys starring Robin Williams. That was a hairy turd of a movie.

ETA: at FUVM, George.

The Happening and The Phantom Menace both started with something to work with (an idea, at least) yet both should never have seen the light of day in current form.

I'll give Benjamin Buttons slightly more credit because at least the idea was presented on screen with some sort of thought process. Although in the end, I found that it really didn't go anywhere.

I just saw Rebel Without A Cause, and was thoroughly disappointed. No character at any point made a rational or logical decision, and the plot bumped from scene to scene with the grace of a heroin-crazed Brian Dennehy.

I walked out of and absolutely despise Troy but I believe that has more to do with the giant steaming turd they took on the Iliad than it being the worst movie I have ever seen. Being biased about Troy, my pick has to be John Q.

It's tough to say what's the worst I've ever seen. There were plenty of bad movies in the 80's and 90's. However, the worst of this decade is The Happening. I couldn't make it through the movie, and I tried more than once. I can't make it past the running from the wind scene.

Crap, you missed him talking to the plant then. It was probably the perfect mixture of bad acting, bad script and bad concept wrapped into one OMFG moment. I watched the whole thing and my wife had watched only about 25 minutes of it. I made her watch that scene, she couldn't believe it.
