I thought the biggest problem compared to iron man was the much greater suspension of disbelief required.

Even though you know the things in IM can't happen, it was portrayed in a way that made it absurdly believable.

So story wise, they had to waste time building the rules of this world, and had to keep the story vanilla to keep it relatable.

I agree with this.

SPOILERS

My other complaint was Thor falling in love and becoming a changed man in 24 hours. I understand the time constraints though. It was a pretty good movie. I'd probably give it a 6.5 out of 10, or 3 on netflix

One of the few movies that I can honestly say could've benefitted from another fifteen, twenty minutes.

I agree. Thor was enjoyable enough for what it is, but it needed some time to develope the characters a little. Replaying the "Thor gets hit by a truck" scene seemed a waste of needed space and...redundant.

The story was extremely vanilla.

It was a fun ride, though.

Very good movie that was much better than I thought it would be. I saw it at an IMAX and like others have mentioned, the 3D wasn't great but the sound was.

Hard to believe this guy directed it:

My 5 y/o son loves super heros. He has seen all the advertisements and wants to go see it. Appropriate or not?

I would think definitely.

Would you let him watch Iron Man? Thor's the same tone.

No.

IM is loaded with sexual suggestion and innuendo.

Thor is pretty clean. Even the love story was pretty innocent.

I'm thinking that's the Cosmic Cube.

It features prominently in Captain America and Avengers storylines.

Indeed. A little 2-3 minute montage of him doing human stuff and maybe getting to know some of the people in the town would have been great. It's not that I don't buy into Thor's transformation in general, just that it should have taken a little longer.

But that's really my only complaint. Rest of the movie was extremely fun.

Just saw this my kid today, thoroughly enjoyed. As others have said, a lot of one liners to keep the comedy going. I did read comics as a kid, not so much Thor. First thing my son asks, is he going to fight the Hulk! Haha.
