That really doesn't mean anything.

Also, Rebirth Brass Band won a Grammy this year and they play BR all the time.

I bought Sixteen Stone by accident... i was trying to impress this chick I started dating, and she was hot for this new band... I thought it was Bush, so I bought the disc for her.

Turns out, she was talking about Sponge....

I still have Sixteen Stone

I'm really not trying to be a dick, but this is exactly the kind of booking you made it sound like your buddy was going to put an end to. Bush is cool, but did their best work a decade ago.

I officially use my one and only booking request on Deerhunter.

is there going to be another HUGE announcement tomorrow that Live is the opening act for Bush (who played in BR in the 90's so obviously not their first time)? I was hoping Arcade Fire or something decent.

Doc ... we are all glad that there is a change at the Varsity, but your shameless plugging of your friend's new job is annoying considering the flaming Lips show is really a gimmicky promotion that anybody with a brain would have taken part in ..... and then a big announcement of Bush? Even terrible Lundgren would have booked those commerce over art locks. It feels like Chris passed on Bush at the casino and gave the show to his old stomping grounds as a thank you note.

I have no doubt your guy is going to improve the culture over there, but please save it for when it counts or there is a true sea change seen in a good calendar.

C'mon Doc... Bush was a product of the sign anything "grunge" mentality of that period. There was nothing interesting about them.

I've seen your taste in music, I would think you would agree...

It's nostalgic to me. Bush had some good songs and they put on a good Show still.

I'm not "above" going to see bush

Are they my favorite band? No

I'm friends with a couple of guys from Arcade Fire. They're super humble and awesome, but even they know they're too big for the Varsity.

They headlined ACL last year. Christian Bale was at their afterparty. These guys are playing arenas. Not tiny theaters in BR.

I mean, the math has to work. 800 capacity x whatever the ticket price is

Factor in the guarantee. It's legalized gambling honestly.

If AF could sell out the River Center (which they would), what would be their motivation for playing a much smaller venue?
