Remember this?

Vaguely.. that was a This Mortal Coil side project, right?

Truly. Pearl Jam gets a bad rap on this board, and I'm guessing it has to do with the band's liberal political stance.

I think its because they are the more generic sounding of these bands... no real edge to them...

My favorite Unrest song.

Make Out Club

Yes! I was trying to somewhat keep with the theme and posted a song Bridget sang on... def not my favorite, though...

Perfect Teeth is such a great record... hard to believe its been 30 + years..
Need more cuddle-core in your life? I thought not, anyway...

from 90s Vancouver band Cub... with Neko Case on the drums... a cover of Surfer Girl off their debut Betti-Cola

Off of Unrest's final record.. Perfect Teeth

Bass player Bridget Cross on lead vox

Christina Martinez on vox and the incomparable Hollis Queens on drums...

Not to mention, anything Jon Spencer was involved in rocked!

Free Kitten.. side project from Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Julia Cafritz (Pussy Galore), Yoshimi (The Boredoms... and yes, of the flaming lips album) and Mark Ibold (Pavement)

While she doesn't contribute any vocals, I have to give a shout out to Laura Ballance.. bass player for Superchunk and co-founder/owner of one of the most influential indie rock record labels from the 90s (and beyond)

One of my favorite bands from the 90s... NYC's Versus... Bass player Fontaine Toups on backing vocals..

A rare vocal from drummer Janet Weiss on this Quasi's sophomore record... She's probably better know as the long time drummer for Sleater-Kinney... still kicking it with Quasi though..

Annie Hayden.. one of the vocalists from Spent

Before Azure Ray.. Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor were in Little Red Rocket out of Birmingham, AL in the 90s

Remember when we defended Brian Kelly's fake accent

To this day I dont really hear what everyone else did that caused such an uproar... it so stupid..

Do you deny that having the lead singer die young has possibly led to them having an elevated stature over time? I

I absolutely deny that... If anything, I think its lost on people just how talented Cobain (Nirvana) was and his suicide tends to dominate the narrative...

I doubt they would still be a band today and no doubt their popularity would have waned with the ever-changing popular music landscape... but I dont doubt his talent would have shown through regardless..

Never been a big GD fan... but I got a lotta respect for him and doing things his own way (whole band really)... brought a lot of joy to people over the years..

RIP
I dont really like them either, but I get that a lot of people love them.. not discounting them at all, its simply a matter of taste...

can't we reasonably assume that the reason Nirvana is even as big as they are is becuase kurt died?

You can't be serious? They were largely responsible for changing the face of "popular" music seemingly overnight... Their legacy would have only grown and not be limited to such a small sample size if Kurt hadn't died...

edit: those other bands rode on their back to the mainstream, plus they allowed bands (like STP) to get signed as every major label was chasing the next Nirvana..

If anything (IMO), his death is responsible for this even being a question... I'd have loved to hear the direction of his music and how it would have evolved over the years...

Who do these kids think is calling plays next year?

Do you expect them not to sign a QB because LK and CW left? Their QB coach (former NFL HC) is still there...

As expected Connor Bradley is done.for the rest of the year, he didn't do his ACL, but enough damage to shut him down. We all know Gomez can't stay fit, so is it szobo, frimpong, or do we splash some cash in the xfer market?

I've resigned myself to thinking no 1st team signings come in this month...

Perhaps its time for Calvin Ramsay to step up (is he out on loan?)..
