Why is Faron Young not in the Louisiana Music HOF? Travesty!

Joe Carson - "The Last Song I'm Ever Gonna Sing" (1963)
One of the lost masterpieces of country music, a surprisingly early anti-Nashville piece written by Crickets Jerry Allison and Sonny Curtis. Curtis himself cut it soon afterward, as did The Everly Brothers. But this version is definitive, Carson perfectly capturing the pathetic sense of disappointment in the lyrics.
Carson is one of country's great might-have-beens. A few months after this record's release he was killed in a car wreck at age 27.
FWIW producer Tommy Allsup is the guy who lost a coin toss and gave up his seat on the plane to Ritchie Valens.

Unfortunately after she left the great proto-rockabilly band The Maddox Brothers and Rose her solo career never really went anywhere.

I'm not searching 23 pages, but know this ones been said. Last week I went to a wedding in NC. There were folks there from all over the US, Australia, the UK and various other European countries. A good number of us were on a shuttle bus back to our lodging from the wedding venue (which was small, with limited parking.) About 1/2 way back, David Allen Coe's "You never even called me by my name" came on the bus' stereo. INSTANTLY, all of the american's burst into song.
"Well it was all,
that I could do,
to keep from cryin..."
The aussies and brits, none of whom had ever heard the song, were blown away by the display. One of the Aussie chaps said to me, "This one would go over good downunder."

I found a really good classic country internet radio station that plays every one of these songs with no commercials

Love him. To me, this live performance of Long Haired Redneck captures the essence of DAC. LINK
